Rakth Disease

A disease originating on the Mauray continent of Euslux. It rapidly spread through the population, killing millions before starving itself due to a lack of more hosts to infect. Most people on the planet suspect the disease was a punishment from Landraz. The Hyperion Federation, which always studies the world, theorised that it evolved from a very similar thing. One change in the physiology of the bacteria made it very dangerous to the hosts.
  The continent of Euslux was made difficult to live on due to the Rakth disease. Even after resettlement, it could return after a while and again make it hard to live. It was only when people have largely abandoned the continent for the most part for many years when the Rakth disease began to die off for real. The disease is named as such because the first known case happened near a river in Euslux called Rak. The Rak river is about 38 000 km long and quite deep. However, many Maurayan cultures disagree on its exact origins and even name due to a lack of technology, and few can prove the first known case now. This makes the disease somewhat elusive to the population.
