Psi Kaus IV

Lava planet of the Psi Kaus System, owned by the HF.

It is one of the larger planets and despite being more than 2 AU away from it's star it is irradiated massively primarily with UV radiation. The primary light source on the world are the various lava pits. There is also life on the world that has evolved to survive the conditions. Due to the temperature the atmosphere has a very high pressure. To hold this high pressure on the planet, it has a powerful magnetosphere.

The world is also the home planet of the Zatenheim species. When the HF discovered this system, the native species was in their very early space age, using small, low tech starships with no FTL technology. After first contact, they were initially terrified of the HF which has led many to mobilise the military. The planet soon saw the most wide scale military mobilization in its history, almost all nations cooperating under the common goal of protecting themselves and their planet.It was thus made very clear to the HF that even one wrong move could make them extremely xenophobic. 

Due to this civilization, many of the planetary resources have been used. There are still a lot of materials, but also many large cities designed to withstand the extreme conditions. The planet has a number of species that can survive direct contact with lava. Some fish-like animals often have their habits in lava pools. The Zatenheim have taken inspiration from these organisms to construct starships that could enter much shorter orbits where the temperature largely exceeds the melting point of most steel.
