Paragonal Shattering

Following the Hyperquasar Annihilator War, the stability of the HF in general has suffered greatly. They are currently in the midst of a crippling Matter Plasma Shortage, a resource which the federation depends on significantly. Some star nations could not get enough to sustain their star nations, forcing them to get some in other ways.

It is well known that the construction of Paragon, an immense birch world, consumes a lot of resources from all over the federation. As such, some star nations have tried dismantling sections of Paragon, but this has significant political implications and, in some cases, could impair the structural integrity of Paragon itself (so demolition is done in a controlled, careful manner). This has led to the wider HF being at higher risk of collapse, despite the extremely essential nature of the federation as a pact of mutual defence against external threats. With no cohesion, their forces would surely fall against a powerful, united force in the form of another faction (like the CD), possibly even while crippled. The HF remains intact, but much damage has been done to Paragon. In some cases, there have been recorded military skirmishes on Paragon, against demolition teams, leading to these demolition teams being escorted.

Now, Paragon is mostly safe although the small risk of battle is constantly present. Many individuals decide to live on planets or stations because of this, though there is the potential for stations or even planets being dismantled just so the HF can survive.

Paragon is also an incredible energy and antimatter source, though both of those resources are in higher supply due to Planck-Dismantlement Beam existing and as such are not as fought over as matter plasma. There is also political power to gain from occupying large sections of Paragon, as well as a larger workforce.

With Paragon at risk, the future of the HF in general is also put into question...
