Kralax Awakening Theory
A theory stating that Kralax, of the planet Mauray, has obtained his magic powers because he underwent the process of Awakening, by eating a large number of eyes of Alferun.
The pilgrimage down to the Core of Mauray is the single most perilous journey that one can make on Mauray. Many people cannot believe that Kralax, an individual with little training outside of magic, could make the journey on his own and without an exploration party. Some claim that he stole Eyes (read the article for Awakening) from parties that have been to the core. This is not true however, and Kralax has in reality not brought any eyes back with him to the surface. Despite the flaws, this theory has surprisingly little contradictory evidence, which is probably why it is so widespread. Outside of rumors of Kralax describing what the core looks like, and the fact his magical attunement has increased drastically, there is virtually no evidence that he actually visited the core. Others might even argue that Kralax did not even eat eyes of Alferun, instead gaining his powers through some other, potentially undiscovered method of attunement which he has not shared.
The theory has a number of versions, some might suggest that Kralax has become powerful by learning all the knowledge available to his parent's magic school, the Magic School of Ochis, and then somehow figured out how to attune himself to this degree. Some people might think that Kralax has also allowed his children to eat eyes as well, and others who do not believe the theory could believe that he showed his children the core after giving birth to them.
To many, the prospect of a potential, massive, undiscovered magic weapon constantly hanging over their heads is a terrifying one, though it is not real. Even the Hyperion Federation might believe these rumors are correct as their scanners are not powerful and precise enough to identify individual people within the core of this megastructure planet. Regardless, it is clear that Kralax's power should not be underestimated, and it is certain that they have a level of power that can rival those who are known to visit the core, so no nation would try to arrest Kralax. To kill Kralax, they would have to send a significant force in a single engagement. Many nations do try to kill him but without success, to prevent the threat of this incredibly powerful magic user from threatening their nations and people. Some nations are also trying to deploy their own incredibly powerful magic users, sometimes even of the kind that have visited the core. Kralax, not wanting to risk the lives of his children, retreats from these fights often by blinding them with a focused beam of magic light. This will not work on an army.
