Igana
The ancient yet broken homeworld of the Iganan species.
Igana lies in the Cyseus galaxy, and was originally very optimal for many species across Fortrais to inhabit. Though it was a near perfect homeworld with an abundance of almost all resources, it existed in a location that was quite close to the young at the time HEX Mainframe (HM), when they were initially attacking nearby galaxies. At this time, though, the iganan species were not technologically advanced enough to know.
As they had such an abundance of burnable fuels like coal and natural gas, they built a large number of power stations which consumed large amounts of these materials. This has led to very wide scale pollution and significant climate change. Igana was eventually made uninhabitable by the pollution and the sheer heat of the surface (as the pollution traps heat under its thick layers). Though most buildings were made heatproof and effectively air conditioned, their society was decaying. The largest corporations started building immense worldships, generations ships with no FTL capability, to search for other habitable worlds within Fortrais to claim. Many people purchased tickets to these worldships in order to not risk dying in the heat on Igana; many air conditioning units were already failing, a significant cause of death at the time. In the end, they managed to construct hundreds of these massive primitive ships, a testament to the legendary industrial base of this world. However, by the time the final ship left, there were still those on the planet who could not afford to leave Igana, and who did not want to. They managed to survive for decades, but this once great civilization was finally put in the ground as the last of their power stations failed.
Many years after that, the HM arrived at Igana. It did not take the well-equipped AI faction to realise what has happened, and started purifying the world to house their own population. They found evidence of the iganans leaving this world with a number of large, broken and buried rocket silos. The HM continues to search for them to this day in attempts to assimilate them into the HEX collectives. They have not had any notable success with this so far. The terraforming project has somewhat cleared the planet though. They would have to clear the surface if they want to build anything significant.
