GPX-46

Chemical weapon often used by the Cypher Dominion to attack a variety of different factions.

GPX-46 is known by virtually all enemies of the CD to have a very distinctive smell. This is often used as a warning to wear a gas mask or similar protection device. However, as it can cause very rapid damage to the body of an organic very quickly, it should be worn very quickly. GPX - 46 can also damage morale, especially if some people do succumb to it. However, it cannot be used constantly because several factors can cause the CD to target their own forces with it by accident. It is mostly used as a defensive weapon because they might have to wait for it to dissipate before they can attack, or wear protection which can slow them down. It can also be blown by the fairly unpredictable wind, but this is somewhat mitigated by firing the shell (or other origin of the chemical) deep into enemy territory, so that if it does spread to the front, it is reduced in concentration significantly.

Other than its smell, the chemical is colourless. Some factions have also invented ways to detect it electronically, a more reliable and faster method than using individuals' sense of smell. The CD often tracks where the cloud of poisonous material is by satellite, or with a number of small, mobile drones. Both can be fairly unreliable at times if the enemy can to fire at them. 

It is fatal to almost all known biochemistries because it disrupts bonds in most matter. This makes it highly corrosive as well, but some of the only known immune species are anagons, data fae, robotic entities which are designed to not react with the atmosphere and possibly the accuilax. 

Sometimes, but very rarely, it is also used as a starship weapon. If it is introduced into the atmosphere of an enemy starship, that starship would have fwe options to survive. However, this requires that the shell or other method of delivery would be able ot penetrate its hull and shield, and it is often easier to create an atmosphere breach instead. It can be highly potent against an organic starship though, so when the Hyperion Federation fights CD forces they will often place bioships into a more backwards position within their formations. The chemical is ineffective if it is deployed directly into the vacuum of space because it will not disperse in a wide area like it will in atmospheres, instead leaving its canister at high speed.

Some laboratories of the CD work on a formula that is safe to Cypheans, and one that causes the person to be connected to the CD hive mind rather than dying. This would be quite useful to the CD, but as a relatively basic chemical weapon, this is notably very difficult to do.
