Data Fae Poisoning

The Data Fae are infovores. Data fae poisoning is a condition where a fae eats some particularly 'unhealthy' information, leading to poisoning and potential death.

As the fae don't retain the information they eat (unless they looked at and learned it beforehand) they might not know what is poisonous to them. It can vary between individuals. Some fae are poisoned form war related topics, others from other species, and some are poisoned through technology. Almost all information can be poisonous, as it seems to be almost entirely random.

Due to this condition, most people will read the information before they eat it, which is often the most effective way to avoid the condition.

Severity is dependent on the individual and the quantity of this poisonous data they tried to digest. It can range from a minor inconvenience for a few days to death. It can be treated by ripping the information from their body using a virtual hospital for data fae. The Hyperion Federation is still yet to understand how this works, but the data fae has constructed these themselves and are able to reach them in an emergency. A side effect of this treatment is hunger, because they rip all information from the digestive system indiscriminately. This is usually how they learn what kind of information is dangerous to them, if any.

It is relatively obvious when one is poisoned. They will be much weaker and could have trouble walking, and they might even change colour entirely. Their blood might change appearance entirely as well.

As it is so different between individuals, it has a small chance of being contagious, but this is relatively rare as it only happens in specific situations. The 2 individuals would need to be nearby and both vulnerable to the same information. If it does spread, both people would likely need to be treated.
