Aquack

One of the key people that introduced the idea of Freelancers to the wider Hyperion Federation.

Aquack was a Suon worldbuilder that loved to try and predict the future. Aquack, living at a time shortly after the Suon-Saelian War, realised that the mobility of one's starship in war could present a massive advantage. As an organic crew could severely limit the mobility of starships as they can be crushed in high G maneuvers, Aquack postulated the possibility of a ship controlled purely by a very advanced AI, or for drone piloted ships. The latter case is heavily reliant on QEC signals.

In the end, and very far in the future, his works led to the great metamorphosis of S.R.I.A, the first freelancer. Though other Sentient Robots joined SRIA in these new, hyperintelligent and very powerful forms, most ships remain piloted by organics. Though Aquack has changed history in this way, the suon himself died in 1623, approximately 100 years after the formation of the HF. He was born in the year 446 after Unification. He died after falling off Takanal despite the highly engineered fences while on vacation. This fall was at the time several kilometers high and was over a minute long.

Aquack was of the Eraklanian ethnicity, with a mostly-pure black skin colour and light blue bioluminescence, causing their luminescent parts to stand out significantly especially in dark conditions. He preferred the cold, and as such would wear thinner clothing such as the suon equivalents of shorts and T-shirts. He also had a watch-like item that he would wear almost anywhere. Due to the proficiencies of suon engineering, it lasted him his whole lifetime of 1200 years.

Though they are most closely affiliated with the HF space force wing of the military, he actually worked as a matter plasma miner on Tebburus. His worldbuilding was mostly a hobby but turned out to be his most famous work.

Aquack was a mostly silent person that did not talk much, so although he did not make a large number of friends, the friends he did make were of a high standard. If one did manage to talk to him for an extended period, they might find that Aquack had a fairly humorous personality and liked to joke a lot, as well as genuinely caring for his family and friends. Social skills were one thing he had a reputation for lacking, but was extremely good at maths and engineering.

Despite this, he failed at the suon equivalent of engineering in university, an embarrassment that caused him to remain in the matter plasma mining job. However, as the UN of Tebburus tries to take good care of its people, they have spent a lot of resources on making the working conditions excellent, so Aquack was surprised to note that they enjoyed this job, relatively speaking.
