Thraotor

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Thraotor is the grim and brooding divine realm of Memnor, Perched high above the slopes of Krangath. Thraotor is a storm-palace suspended in eternal shadow, its foundation a vast thundercloud blackened with malice and ash. To the uninitiated, it may seem majestic, even radiant from afar. But within its dark vaults, Memnor weaves treacherous ambitions and manipulations that echo across the Lower Planes.   Where Stronmaus reigns from a palace of silvery marble in The Beastlands, Memnor has forged his realm from black adamantine and shadowglass, materials so heavy with magical intent that they resist all truth-scrying. Everything in Thraotor is veiled in half-light and strategic illusion, from its decor to its inhabitants' very words.

Geography

Thraotor is located within Krangath, the silent and dead layer of Gehenna. Suspended above the skeletal slopes by no visible means, the storm-cloud foundation of Thraotor churns with silent lightning and bleeding auroras. The realm is accessible only through hidden planar fissures known to Memnor’s most trusted clergy, or through invitation, often extended with ulterior motives.   Even among other divine realms of Gehenna, Thraotor is unique: it floats, tethered not to stone but to deception itself, drawn upward by the force of Memnor’s will and his desire to look down upon all things.

Notable Locations

The Palace of the Eclipse At the center of Thraotor looms a great black bastion of adamantine and obsidian, crowned with spires that pierce the stormcloud sky. This is the seat of Memnor’s power, a realm of throne rooms, echoing vaults, and mirrored halls where secrets are currency and oaths are etched in veiled threats.   The throne chamber, The Hall of Sighs, is lined with polished stone that reflects only lies. Words spoken in this chamber are remembered differently by every speaker, as though truth is devoured by the space itself.
The Spiral Echoes
Throughout Thraotor, spiritual echoes of schemes past drift as whispers, thoughtforms of betrayals, half-truths, and persuasive manipulations. These echoes are said to form an invisible maze surrounding the palace, confounding outsiders who lack the mental discipline to maintain their intent.
Cloudbridges
Invisible walkways of wind, called cloudbridges, connect Thraotor to hidden shrines in other layers of Gehenna. These ephemeral paths shimmer only when acknowledged, requiring both will and guile to traverse.

Inhabitants

Thraotor is sparsely populated, for Memnor values privacy and secrecy above all. Those who dwell here are handpicked—elite Congeniuses of his clergy, phantoms of political misdirection, and soul-bound advisors carved from the Genius of those Memnor has bested.   Wyverns, gifted to high priests, occasionally roost among the dark towers. These creatures bear the twisted brilliance of their god, serving as both messengers and executioners.

Access and Pilgrimage

Pilgrims rarely come to Thraotor willingly. Most are summoned through visions, ploys disguised as revelations, or as pawns in Memnor’s long-game manipulations. Even within his own faith, few priests ascend to this layer, those who do are either consumed, exalted, or remade.   Entry portals are known only to high-ranking Mistresses and Masters of Control, hidden among ruins of forgotten cloud giant temples, obscured behind glamours and bound by compacts of silence.

Localized Phenomena

Time in Thraotor flows fluidly, often influenced by emotional resonance, especially ambition, suspicion, and pride. Conversations may replay themselves until the "correct" manipulation is spoken. Visitors may find themselves caught in loops of self-doubt, only escaping when their confidence hardens into dominance.
