The Dreamlands

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
The Dreamlands, also known as The Dreamlands of Arthindol, Dimension of Dreams, The Subtle Reverie,, The Etheric Slumber is a dimension that overlaps the Ethereal Plane. The Dreamlands is a mutable, fragrant realm nested within the Ethereal Plane and sometimes speculated that it overlaps it. Rather than being a physical domain, it is a dream‑woven echo of the Material Plane, fashioned from the subconscious, emotional resonance, and imaginative essence of dreaming minds.

Ethereal Integration

The Dreamlands is metaphysically nestled within the Ethereal Plane, and its fabric reflects the metaphysical principles of Elementologism, particularly Aether, Faith, and Time:
Aether metaphysical element, acts as manifests as the receiver of 'senses'. Faith metaphysical element act as the will and processing of the information and finally, time metaphysical element acts as the output.

Geography

The Dreamlands, share a topology with the Material Planes, they are larger and shared zones resemble reflections of regions in Theras, but appear distorted by symbolism, surreal logic and collective imaginaries. The terrain mutates in response to emotion, memory and narrative threads. Maps rarely hold validity longer than a dream cycle.

The Dreamscape

The dreamscape is a personal, self-contained realm within the broader expanse of the Dreamlands, functionally similar to a demiplane, formed by the subconscious of a dreaming mortal. Access is typically exclusive: only the dreamer can naturally enter their own dreamscape. Within this space, the dreamer manifests as a lucid avatar, a conscious representation of their self.   Given the countless dreaming minds scattered across the multiverse, the Dreamlands is home to an almost infinite number of these individualized dreamscapes.   Owing to its metaphysical tethering to the Ethereal Plane, the Dreamlands, and by extension its dreamscapes, exist in parallel with all other planes. Dreamscapes are not fixed in location or physics: each one features its own unique rules of reality, including altered perceptions of gravity, time, and magic. In many cases, what seems like a full day within a dream may amount to only an hour in the waking world.   Inside their dreamscape, a lucid avatar can achieve impossible feats, casting titanic spells, shaping landscapes, or wielding legendary artifacts far beyond their material capabilities.

The Nature of Dreamscapes

Upon first entry, a dreamscape typically resembles a setting familiar to the dreamer's cultural identity or recent memories. However, the deeper one ventures into it, especially through lucidity or magical interference, the dreamscape becomes increasingly mutable, reshaping itself according to the desires, fears, and imagination of the dreamer or visitor. At its deepest, it may reflect their idealized world or a surreal synthesis of longing and memory.

Accessing the Dreamscapes

While most creatures experience their own dreamscape naturally during sleep, powerful magic: such as dream travel, dreamwalk, or certain psionic and extraplanar abilities, can be used to access these realms consciously.   Entering another creature’s dreamscape, however, is far more difficult. It requires not only overcoming the natural defenses of the subconscious, but also navigating the volatile dimensional structure of the Dreamlands. Even reaching the Dreamlands core, the relatively stable nexus that connects many dreamscapes, is more challenging than accessing most traditional planes of existence.

Other Locations

The Sea of mists
A fog-bound bay where ships sail upon vaporous mist. Docks lead nowhere, and vessels glide as though through ghostly waves. It can be found between dreamscapes.
Dylath‑Leen of the Dawnlight
A sprawling port‑city built of dream‑ruined structures layered atop one another. It serves as a hub for dream‑travelers, merchants, and oneiromancers inspired by prophecy. It is where the Feywild usually borders the Ethereal Plane.
Nightmare Lands
Regions where Dreamlands bleed into Shadowfell, giving birth to twisted terrains ruled by fear, home to phantasmal predators and dread.
Moonscape
A sphere that looms overhead, a dream‑moon formed from massive psychic projection (often the various Moons of Theras). Visitors reach it via invisible wind currents or enchanted vessels; its illuminated side shines with surreal luminescence, while the far side is ruled by darkness and aberrant entities.
Underworld Layers
The echo of subterranean realms, cavernous dream‑Underdark locales inhabited by ravenous mind‑eating creatures and fractured dream‑realities.
Citadel of Remnants
A monolithic stronghold built atop abandoned or forgotten dreamscapes, is a refuge for relics and lost identities.
Mirror Labyrinth
A constantly shifting maze of mirrored halls, reflects overlapping shared memories. Only those who understand their own story may navigate it safely.

Inhabitants

There are many inhabitants such as:, Oneiromancers, who are arcane and spiritual savants, wizards and mystics who have mastered the art of dream manipulation. Their training allows them not only to traverse dreamscapes at will, but in rare cases, to take up permanent residence within the Dreamlands themselves, shaping the realm through lucid control.   Among them, Slyvras, known as the King of Dreamers, stands as a mythic figure. Once mortal, he has transcended physical existence to reign over a lucid empire called the Kingdom of Kings, a realm conjured from collective dreaming and governed by conscious will - He is rumored to be the pupil of Arthindol.   Another renowned figure is Grandmother Mamu, a kindly, enigmatic wanderer revered for her boundless compassion. She drifts between dreamscapes, offering healing, guidance, and protection to lost or tormented dreamers. Many believe her to be a semi-divine spirit, ever at odds with the nightmare-born forces of the Far Realm.   The Dreamlands also hosts entire species attuned to the realm’s surreal nature. Among the most notable are the Dream Cats, telepathic felines and the Zoogs, sly, rat-like tricksters who dwell in the dream-forests, trading in secrets, stolen thoughts, and illusions.

Far-Realm Invaders

Yet not all that walks the Dreamlands is benign. From the tainted edges of existence come Far‑Realm invaders, alien and malign:
  • Nightgaunts, faceless and winged, feed on raw fear, hunting silently through shadowed skies.
  • Leng Spiders, ancient and massive, spin webs of consciousness and deceit, having been twisted into existence by the influence of a greater being: the Dweller in Darkness, a whispering god-thing whose tendrils stretch deep into the Dreamlands.

Localized Phenomena

Some beings, known as animate dreams, have escaped the confines of their original dreamscapes. These entities now roam the Ethereal Plane, sometimes drawn to sleepers, sometimes lashing out in surreal madness or forming symbiotic bonds.   It is speculated that Night Hags have accomplished the way to enter the dreams via Weird Magic.

Dreammagic

Dreamscape Travel allows dreamers to enter vast, shared subconscious realms, landscapes that initially mirror the waking world but grow increasingly abstract. Skilled oneiromancers can navigate and even construct entire dreamscapes shared across minds and dimensions.   Emotional Resonance governs much of the Dreamlands’ flux. When emotions spike, grief, joy, rage, they ripple outward as psychic waves, reshaping the local dreamscape and altering or empowering dream-native entities.   Scattered across the realm lie Dreamstones, ancient, fragmented relics believed to hold the power to reshape reality itself. Scholars speculate that reassembling these artifacts could even collapse or reforge the laws of the Dreamlands.

History

The Dreamlands, were first introduced in writing by Arthindol, or more like in the The Tale Of Arthindol, whereas the Temporal Order, has brought it to the attention of the world.   According to sages of Sophia-Hold, the history and tale of Arthindol, cannot be verified for the Dreamlands, are whatever a person hold them to be true.
