Panaloc Canála

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
The Panaloc Canála is a series of locks on the Tuinecelma River in Amon-Thal.

Purpose / Function

The Panaloc Canála gives Amon-Thal control over transportation on Tuinecelema, levying taxes for passage and tariffs on cargo and commodities. Additionally, it allows access to the higher-elevation area of the river and to Lake Ardórael, a high altitude lake in Thalasindor.

Architecture

Though canal locks are not a unique feature in any part of Theras, the Panaloc Canála is the longest series of consecutive locks, 23 in number. It is completely automated, and merchant may pay for a permit which allows their vessels to pass undisturbed; vessels without a permit may still pass, but need to register and interact with the locks’ operators.
