  The Elemental Plane of Air is an endless vault of sapphire clarity where horizon and zenith blur into one. Clouds of every temperament, gauzy veils, anvil-headed thunderheads, mile-deep fog banks, float as archipelagos in a sea of wind, while errant islands of stone, salt, and ice drift like slow ships on invisible currents. Pressure and temperature braid into jet streams that whistle like harp-strings, then slacken into silent blue hollows; in places the sky knots itself into maelstroms that roar for decades, ring-shaped tempests that swallow light and sound. Fly far enough and the atmosphere thins to crackling ozone, where lightning sheets the distance; veer another way and the air grows cold until snow and diamond dust bead your lashes; nose toward smoke and the breath grows hot and thick, presaging the borders of other elements. Everywhere the world is motion, eddies and updrafts, buoyant thermals and sudden down-bursts, yet there are calm “lee pockets” around cloud-isles where cities perch and djinn palaces hang by chains of wind.

Travel and Access

Blue Ethereal curtains open to the Border Air. Vortices appear in hurricane eyes, mountaintop jet streams, and canyon thermals. Edges feather to Smoke, Ice, Lightning, and Vacuum. Wind compasses (or a djinn pilot) are essential; maelstrom belts can trap travelers for days. With it, the Astral pool provide additional access aswell as many other planes provide acess the plane, such as Platinum Palace.  

Inhabitants

Air elementals and animentals; invisible stalkers; djinn and some jann; arrowhawks, sylphs, cloud giants; mephits (air, dust, ice). Traders and scouts from many planes ride tethered sky-isles.
