Windfire Brood
The Drusaderi war golems created by Silmay Windfire . They were created to fight in the war against the Barbacks and were very successful for a time. Until the brood gained consciousness and turned their creator into one of them. They've been trapped in the laboratory ever since.
Size & Appearance
The name Windfire Brood is one that sends fear into the enemies of the Drusaderi, and the term War Golems give the impression of hulking beasts of stone that could swat gryphons and crush horses. In reality the appearance of the war golems are closer to what most would call cute. Silmay carved them to resemble happy Drusaderi children, smiling from ear to ear. With their little teeth sticking out over their lips and their chunky cheeked faces looking real enough to pinch. But their eyes, their dead grey eyes hung above their smile like curtains over a skyless window. And not a single one of them is over 4 feet tall besides Silmay herself.
Battle Effectiveness
When they were finally perfected and ready to send into battle, the Brood began turning the tides against the Barbacks. Not only were they easily made and replaceable, they could be deployed as frontline warriors to punch a hole into the enemy defenses. Their smiling faces were a terrible sight to see on the battlefield, as they could easily over whelm a soldier and either drag him back to be used for necromancy or be killed on the spot. They could crack bone with one swing or fracture it with a bite. They would trip enemy soldiers and jump on their faces till they were bloody puddles. They could hide in tall grass or trees and surprise you or just stampede toward you. Hitting one was like hitting pure rock, and swords and arrows were of no use. They had to be crushed specifically at the torso or completely frozen to stop, as they had no fear to force them to do otherwise.
Sentience
The golems slowly began gaining autonomy while being mass produced in their laboratory. Silmay wasn't content merely fashioning them after children, she treated them as her own. She began teaching the golems how to move, communicate, and play. They were simple childlike beings, with primal souls. She was nice and patient and never demanding, while the golems could not understand the complete complexities of emotion. They understand basic wants and exchange of favors. They fought for the Drusaderi because its what Silmay wanted from them, and she played with them because its what they wanted from her. But when Silmay disappeared to start her own family, the brood felt anger. Forcing a series of events that led to Silmay joining the Brood forever, so she could create them more brothers and sisters.
Goals
They don't have any apparent designs, and even though they are very capable of destruction, they haven't attacked anywhere. But they'd really have no reason to, and their last known location was the lab they were trapped in. Even though some claim to have seen they moving in the mountains. Silmay was turned into the Broodmother, but should still possess her knowledge. So they would know the value of things people treasure and could bargain somehow, or rob if they needed too. Again there wouldn't really be a need for that as well. But kidnappings in all surrounding areas have rising, and that cant be mere coincidence.
