Wizard

Wizards are the most prevalent and rigidly defined of magic users in Pyalea, though they only make up a small fraction of the population.

Historically, wizards are trained and studied in specific practices and methods of the arcane arts according to a universal core curriculum. This curriculum is derived from millennia of study, practice, and documentation by the arcane practitioners and researchers of the Luisant Empire, and its various academies and conservatoires.

In current times, especially outside of the Empire's direct influence, this curriculum varies pretty broadly, as does any given individual's adherence to one, but the core principles of their methods remain the same.

Wizards can be defined by the following details:

• Their ability to manifest arcane magic is learned and memorised, and based on an understanding of the fundamental principles of magic.
• They must study and prepare particular spellwork.
• Their access to magic is extensive, but not infinite.
