Raliel and Haradur

Where is Haradur?

Underneath Jadarkontalyia and Hydalath in the Kelkaith underworld, Haradur is to the Deep-Under a Jewel theome of its own region just as Hydalath above it is a jewel.

How is Haradur classified?

Benevolent. It's an urban theome like Hydalath.

What kind of population and economy does Haradur have?

As the underworld capital of the Swaivshon Underground Metallurgist Alliance, Haradur is a major metallurgical producer! Demand is currently in a long-term lull as the surface theomes around Hydalath have somewhat overbuilt already despite the difficulty of acquiring SUMA alloys, but the economy of Haradur is nevertheless dominated by metal processing. All the buildings here are made of the spectacular construction metals produced here, and the caves of Haradur have great unbreakable wall-braces of the stuff.

Some of the ore for the metallurgists of Haradur comes from the theome itself, which has long-running mines to acquire metals. The rest of the ore is sourced from trade with other underworld theomes. As the land gods of the underworld want to see the territories of the lesser divinities expand, rather than risking them being overtaken by metal scrap, there are few evermines deep underground. This existence of ongoing excavation provides one of the evergreen sources of demand for Haradur's special alloys: the wall braces and other structural elements used to hold up inhabited or protected areas of the caves when mines are extending underneath them. This demand exists in all populous underground theomes and keeps the workers of the SUMA employed.

In terms of population, Haradur is an unusual theome for the underground in that its majority population is Swaivshon rather than Myrghon or Myrskor. Many Myrghon are nevertheless employed in the mines, and they form the second most populous group.

There's one final anomaly to Haradur's population. As the SUMA is a militant organization doing its best to entrench a special monopoly on the structural metals that its metallurgists produce, so that the trade in such metal can protect the peace of the swaivshon, Haradur has some unusual fortifications and a barracks complex for housing the SUMA army. There are very few armies on Theoma!

Does Haradur have any secrets?

Even underground, the SUMA are somewhat unspeakable. It's an open secret that they rule, but there are no great blaring logos nor is there an embassy. Visitors from the surface in particular aren't supposed to figure it out.

What is Raliel like?

Raliel incarnates as a swaivshon of green fur and purple banding. He holds no formal rank within Haradur and he is rarely known to attend events. Geomancers who've secured an audience with Raliel report that he is a distracted land god who pleads the difficulty of manipulating Fate as his theome requires. This difficulty makes him one of the great quest-givers, as there are often things that Raliel would like to see done in distant theomes in order to make his job easier in Haradur.

Raliel is strongly suspected to be a partisan of the SUMA, since there's a general expectation that the theome could not be governed without his approval.

What is the Fate Beacon that Raliel maintains over Haradur?

The stability beacon over Haradur represents a local ideal: that society should be as stable as the unbreaking material outputs of the metallurgists who work here. This effect is propagated across Theoma for the benefit of those who appreciate contentment and fear sorrow more than they seek extremes of joy.

Some people think that the fate beacon over Haradur would be a Regularity beacon if there were a steady demand for the metals produced here, but there is no point working quite that hard, as there is no such steady demand.
