Qempool

Qempool is a fortress city sitting on the eastern coast of the Rikkan Bay. Though it can only have a little over a dozen ships at port at the same time, and isn't big enough to train or house numerous soldiers, it has become integral in the Order's military structure. As the only city able to defend against naval invasions into the bay itself, and the important town of Goldenport to the south, centuries of work have been put into building and improving the walls and defenses of this coastal city. Technological advancements from around the world have been utilized to fortify Qempool, including tiered walls, warded gatehouses, and even a rare and incredibly expensive prototype train that carries large cannons to wherever an attack is being centered. The strongest defense, however, is not a new invention: it is the Seakeep, a monolithic magical tower sitting at one end of the massive walls. At the top is a magical apparatus that charges up blasts of pure force energy, capable of splintering the largest warships in a single blast.   The people of Qempool are a hardy bunch, all trained in some form of combat. The northern kingdom of Agder often sends great raids south, hoping to pillage the rich towns and villages settled over the Rhannor Fields. However, Trale houses much of the Order's navy and prevents the raids from entered the Shimmering Sea. To the north, Lorain and Bluewatch block all access to Lake Plava. This leaves the Rikkan Bay as the likeliest entry point into the countryside, a fact known by both the Agder raiders and the citizens of Qempool. As a result, when the raiding ships arrive at Qempool the populace arms themselves and joins the garrisoned soldiers in defense of their homes. They have defended themselves so successfully that many in Agdan society consider raiding Qempool and fighting its citizens an honor, and proof of their own skill in battle.
