Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals
Each changeling chooses one animal that inspires them to become their signature transformation. This does not mean that this is the only form they can change into nor does it mean that they’re stuck with their choice for the rest of their lives. It is encouraged that their signature changes as they grow and mature to reflect the changes within. Only a few keep the same form their entire lives.
History
The legend states that the first Changelings came from a meeting between a halla and a spirit of the Fade. The spirit was so impressed by the purity of the beast, that it transformed it into something as beautiful as its soul. Learning that the halla could become anything it wanted to at a whim, the noble stag morphed back into a halla.
“Why?” asked the spirit.
“Because all I want to be is a halla,” the humble creature replied.
Today, most Changelings have embraced their gift of transformation and forgotten their humble origins. Some see this ability as a sign that they were chosen to rule the land. How that works out is yet to be seen.
