Sand Sleds

Desert Fleet

In the Yenoan desert, walking takes a long time, and under the dry sun, this can be lethal. The Yenoans have managed to find a way past this, tho, using their greatest advantages to the fullest.
The have constructed wooden sleds that are pulled across the desert by their wargs or camels, which allows for transport at great speeds.

Uses

These sleds are used for many things, both government, private and commercial.

Millitary

Military warsleds are pulled by six wargs at a time, for maximum speed, and so each individual warg is not fatigued too much. They are often small, and are designed for two people at the most and minimal cargo.

Personal

Personal sleds can be pulled by a camel or a warg. This is mostly used by wealthier individuals in order to look luxurious, because either a warg or a camel could easily carry a person without the need for a sled. These kinds of sleds are often of intricate and well-crafted design.

Private

More common for private use are larger sleds, where two or four wargs, or two camels, pull sleds large enough to hold a family. If there is a lot of cargo, it is usually transported separately.

Commercial

Traders use large sleds, often pulled by many camels, in order to transport their wares. This is more efficient than having each camel carry what they can, and leaves more room for the traders themselves on the camels.

Sailors

There are also sleds that have sails, eliminating the need for camels or wargs. These are not capable of carrying a lot of weight, but are good enough for a couple of people.

Ferry Sled

One of the commercial uses for sleds, especially those with sails, is high-speed transport. These sailing sleds ride the strong winds of the Yenoan desert and allow for quick and easy transport between cities.
These sleds have specific stations, which are spaced evenly. This is because the wind changes direction every six hours, allowing ferries to go back and forth.
There are also times with low or no wind, in which the ferry is closed.

This ferry can only transport people over the sands, and only within the basin. There is a stop on the way to the highlands, but that is a rocky route, up steep mountain sides, and not one that can be passed with a sled.
