Popular - Domesticated Animals
Throughout the world, there are many different species that have been domesticated for a variety of reasons, some as cattle, livestock, to produce food, and other byproducts, and other animals were domesticated for the specific reason to ride them, or to aid people in other ways.
Here they are described, their origins, their spread through the world, and if there are still wild variants of their kind.
Horses
Origins: Trianmye
Primary Use: Riding
Secondary Use: Meat, Leather
Horses were domesticated on Triandmye by the elves, they have since spread to much of the western continent. particularly the greater Yavinian plain, where the horse does very well both as a pack animal and in cavalry combat, the humans have used the horse to deadly effect up until the modern day.
There are still wild horses on Trianmye and Quianmye, even tho they are not native there.
In most parts of the world, they are exclusively seen as a mount, but the island elves also use them as one of their main sources of meat and leather.
Donkeys
Origins: Quianmye
Primary Use: Pack Animal
Secondary Use: Guard Animal
Donkeys are native to Quianmye. They are primarily used as pack animals due to their incredible load-bearing strength and endurance. They are not very fast or very large, which is why they are not usually used as mounts.
They are related to horses and are interbred to create mules, which have many of the same characteristics as donkeys, but they are even stronger, and slightly bigger.
They have been exported much more freely than the horse, since they were seen as inferior by the elves. They have since made it to every corner of Veskar.
Donkeys are naturally solitary and have strong defensive instincts, especially when it comes to wolves. This is why they are often placed among herds of more defenseless animals, such as sheep, as a guard animal.
Wargs
Origins: Yenoan Subcontinent
Primary Use: Riding
Secondary Use: Guard Animal.
While the West has horses, the East has wargs. They were domesticated by the Aneira first, and later this practice spread to the Yenoans. This practice didn't spread any further because wargs are not easy to keep, and very difficult to tame. They require a lot of care and attention, something many in the West are simply not willing to do. The only way to truly tame a warg is to hand raise it from birth, in which case it will bond to you. This is not neccesary, but will make the warg grow fiercely loyal to you.
There are still some species of wild warg on the eastern side of black rock, and in the Aneira lands.

Pigs
Origins: Marn Forest, Enyanina Rainforest
Primary Use: Meat
Secondary Use: Leather
Pigs were domesticated twice, and there are two main varieties, both are used primarily for the production of meat.
The Enyanian Pig is the most popular. It lacks any hair and will eat anything. The Enyanians mostly feed them food scraps, leftovers, and supplement their diet with weeds and nuts. It is very easy to keep, grows fast, and has lots of offspring at a time, making it the ideal animal for meat production.
The Marnen Pig is smaller and hairier than its enyanian counterpart, but it is mostly the same in all other aspects. The marnen feed them with special feed, the exact composition of which depends on the region. Its meat is said to be superior to that of the Enyanian pig, but the debate is yet to be settled. It didn't spread nearly as far, but it has been adopted by its immediate neighbours.
There are still many varieties of these wild pigs living in Enyanin and the greater Marn forest.
Sheep
Origins: The Rend
Primary Use: Meat, Wool
Secondary Use: Milk
Sheep were domesticated from a breed of particularly curly-haired goat native to Rendia. It was from there bred into the woolly greatures we know today. They were then exported to much of the northern world, such as dendor and even the dwarves of Cordyan, who took this new, easily growable fabric with enthusiasm, and each made it their own. There are now many varieties of sheep spread over the continent, each of them largely the same of function. Sheep can also be found in smaller quantities in northern Westingham.
Most people keep them primarily for their meat and wool, but some varieties, particularly in the Rend, have been bred for the production of milk, which is very nutritious and is often processed into cheese.
Cow
Origins: North Yavinian Plain
Primary Use: Meat, Milk
Secondary Use: Leather
The cow was domesticated somewhere in the north Yavinian plain from the Bison. They were bred into many different breeds for many different purposes, that being milk production, meat, leather, pelts, or to pull carts.
The Westingham Cow is the most common variety and is largely used for all major purposes, but specifically for meat and milk, with leather as a bonus resource.
The Northern Cow is less common, and was bred by the dendorians. They have less love for their milk, and focus more on the meat. These cows are large, and grow much longer, thicker hair, which the dendorians use to create thick fur coats.
The Yak was bred by the dwarves. It is another multi-use variety, and it has the longest fur of all domesticated bovines. They also produce a distinctly fatty type of milk. Many outsiders find it disgusting, but the dwarves love the stuff, both drinking it, and turning it into their signature cheese.
There are many more varieties, especially in westingham, where, besides the regular multi-use variety, there are also varieties bred for specific purposes, such as meat cows, milk cows, and hide cows.
Goat
Origins: End Mountains
Primary Use: Meat, Milk
Secondary Use: Riding, Pack Animals.
Goats were domesticated by the dwarves in the mountains. They proved useful to them for a variety of reasons, such as pack animals, as mounts, and for their milk, and of course, their meat.
However, while the dwarves took their beloved goats with them wherever they moved, the other races never saw much use in them, as their pelts are inferior to that of sheep, they grow slower than pigs, and they produce less milk and meat than cows, so they have been largely confined to the nation of Cordyan.
Still, they can be found in many places, especially where there are mountains, even if only because the resulting cheese tastes particularly great. In most places, products made from goats are considered peasant foods, and the nobility refuse to consume them.
The one nation that wholeheartedly adopted this creature is the Enyanians, since goats did very well in their uneven and soft-soiled landscape, and the elves grew very fond of the animal's meat and milk, and even bred their own version of the animal.
The Cordyan Goat is large and has a thick winter coat and long horns. They are strong and are excellent climbers. The main variety is used as a mount and pack animal, but there are other varieties that are kept specifically for the production of meat or milk.
The Enyanian Goat is notably smaller and has a thin coat year-round. They are not used as pack animals or mounts at all, and there are two varieties, one specifically for meat, the other for milk.
Reindeer
Origins: Aneira Lands
Primary Use: Meat, Pack Animal
Secondary Use: Pelts, Milk
Reindeer are the bucks of the north. They were domesticated by the Aneira, who herd them across their modest tundra and their forest.
The use of reindeer has not spread very far, due to them not being suitable for most other climates.
However, there is a Yenoan variety, bred for meat consumption, which acts as the eastern version of a cow. In Yeno, its meat is considered a delicacy, but it isn't kept on a large scale due to resource constraints, pigs are simply much more efficient.
For the Aneira, these creatures are much more than just a food source, they pull carts, transport goods, and give milk. It provides meat, largely from the males, since they only need a few, and pelts when they die.
Camels
Origins: Yenoan Desert
Primary Use: Transporting goods and People
Secondary Use: Meat, Leather
Camels originate from the yenoan desert, and their use has been restricted to this region and its direct surroundings. They have been prevented from being adopted further westward by the black mountains and the Blood Marshes, neither of which are habitats suited to this creature.
They are adapted to the hot sandy desert, and they are very capable of spending long amounts of time without food or water, and they are very strong, making them very useful for all kinds of transport needs.
They are not primarily kept for the sake of meat or pelts, but these are put to use when the animal inevitably dies.
Feedback is always Welcome!
I love that even in a whole fantasy world, people are still arguing about which pig is better. Somewhere, two farmers are throwing fists over whether the Enyanian snorts more nobly than the Marnen. Half these animals sound adorable until you realize they probably bite. I would 100 percent risk losing a finger to pet that long-necked lizard goat thing. Excellent chaos. Keep it coming.
Thanks man! I appreciate it, and i will! <3
