Borlandia

Western Kingdom

Borlandia is the kingdom of the hog race, and they live in the westernmost part of the Felmarian peninsula.
Their lands are mostly forested, with more tropical forest in the north and temperate forest in the south.
In the center of their kingdoms lie the western highlands, a patch of old mountains with smooth peaks and covered in shrubs.

The hog race are a wise and strong people, characterized by their faith and work ethic.
Still, they are often stereotyped by the other races as oafish brutes, with nought but a capacity for destruction. This is not an accurate stereotype.

Holy Kingdom

Being zealous people, the hog race are the only ones who have blended the line between nobility and spirituality. The Arch-Priest is also the king. There is no royal house, and no nobility, because there is only Lita and her people.

They also have the most intricate church hierarchy, with all governmental ministries having their own order dedicated to them within church organization.
The military is an independent arm of the faith directly under the king, and it is led by the hog carrier of the blood of mother bear.

Economy

Besides just being zealous, they hog are very keen of mind, curious, and crafty. They were the first in armir to construct a university in their capital. Besides thinkers, these universities also produce all kinds of skilled labourers, and the most renowned among them, armorers and blacksmiths.
Their mountains are rich in all kinds of metals, specifically iron and Jet, and it is because of this combination of skills and resources that, despite having a large agricultural sector, Borladia's primary source of income comes from the creation of steel weapons and armor.

Second to that are their intricate and beautiful jewelry. Rings, necklaces, and many other trinkets made from the finest of metals and stones, worked to perfection by Hog jewelers.

Still, they refuse to deal with Xamylkar or Felinor, preferring to sell to the east and Lupinor, but their main export base is in Rodentia, and they even have an entire industry of people specialized in the making of weapons and armor to fit their smaller Rodent kin.

Xamylkar still gets their Borlandian steel, though, because the corsairs, while they come to their shores not nearly as often as they go north, still decide to take a hog trade ship every now and then, which only serves to damage relations further.

The trade with Lupinor still runs through Xamylkar, though, and this is possible because Lupinorian trade caravans travel to Borladia personally to pick up their goods, and the Xamylkarians, out of solidarity with the Lupinorian struggles against the Nalsia, leave them alone.

Culture

Hog culture is one of community and closeness. Their family structures are quite flexible because they lean on their community, often consisting of many families from different backgrounds. These communities are often quite close, and even when one among them is a criminal, they can still trust that said criminal won't steal from them, because they are part of the same community.
Their eating habits further reinforce this, they consume two main meals a day, both eaten at a local temple. These meals are prepared by priests, monks, and volunteers, and serve from a hundred to ten thousand people each. In the cities, this means that there are multiple temples, and they are constantly building new ones, in order to make sure everyone gets food.
This food is paid for by the church tithe that everyone contributes to.

Being part of a community doesný only mean eating together, it means helping each other and working together. Those who start businesses will always hire fellow members of the community, and thus bring money to the community.
In turn, people try to buy from members of the community whenever possible.

International Relations

Borlandia hs two neighbours, Rodentian, the Rat republic, is their ally. The hog respect the little guys from they skilled labour and craftsmanship, and they share common enemies.
One of those enemies is Borlandia's other neighbour: Xamylkar. They have a long-standing rivalry with the Xamylkarians, and almost their entire border is disputed.

They maintain close ties with the kingdom of Lupinor, whom they consider to be their brethren in faith, and from all the Felmer nations, the Borlandiars are the most likely to go to fight with Lupinor voluntarily.
This is also why the hog race makes up the largest percentage of non-wolf members of the militant order of Oso, a lupinorian holy order of knights.

Magic

The people of Borlandia adhere to the magical philosophy of War.
Read more about the magic of Felmer, and the significance of magical philosophies in: Corporeal Magics.
This is because the hog race prides itself on being the strongest of the Felmer, and great warriors, but it is not the only reason. They use magic not just as a philosophy, but as a way of life, and the stance of obliteration offers more than what it names suggests. The hog race has found ways to use it in their crafts and metal works.

Borladiars, despite following a philosophy, have a more flexible definition of what that means. They see magic as a single power, a single gift, which has been bestowed upon them by Lita, and thus, they feel all parts deserve to be practiced.
