Baskth OLD
Mountain Men
These are the grey-skinned people who call the east of Armir their home. They can be easily identified by their large stature, but even more so by their four arms.
They are not so different in general build, from the continental people, but their ears are less ear-shaped, and more antenna-shaped, like the long leaf of the uecalyptus tree, but thicker. Their faces are wide and rough, and their voices are deep.
They have large square teeth, and short pointed canines.
Their hair is thick and dark, and their skin is most commonly grey, although they have also been seen with more pale, white, or even yellowish skin tones.
Their eyes are large and round, and protected by their long, thick lashes and eyebrows.
Homeland and Ethnicity
Their homeland is vast, but all their centers for culture are built high up on the mountains and highlands of the interior of Armir.
Highlands
The Baskth homeland can be divided into four main regions, the aforementioned highlands, which are most habitable in the center of Armir, but there are mountains all over their homeland. These mountain regions are dry, and range from searing heat in the north to freezing cold in the south. Wherever you go, the sun is strong.
The Baskth originate from this climate, and they are resistant to its extremes.
The people of this region are known for their high-quality Llama stocks, grand beasts with velvet coats. They also produce great quantities of salt and mine precious metals.
They are known for their sophisticated crafts and colorful clothing.
Their people are regal and are considered the heart of Baskth civilization. They are the tallest and most slender of build.
Lowlands
There are the lowlands, which generally refers to the plains regions of eastern Armir It ranges from lush green grass fields in the north, to arid desert in the south, but all of it is hilly, and knows hot summers, and cold winters. This is also one of the main migration routes for Elephants, which the Baskth here exploit. It is also because of this that elephant herding is one of the largest industries in this region.
The Lowlanders ever seek to live up to the regality of their highlander kind, but their llamas are smaller, and their wool is not as smooth. They spin it as fine as their can, and make it into their breathable garb, which keeps the sun off their skin, while keeping them cool.
They also her elephants, largely for their milk, but they will also eat them.
Northern Forest
The forests of the north are green and warm, and host a wide variety of wildlife, however, it is also the closest to the Nalsai lands, and there have been many wars fought over this region. This has given the people of these lands a distinct frontier culture, while still always relying heavily on their southern kin to aid them.
Their llamas are the smallest, but their wool is fine, and their skill is able to turn it into exquisite fabric. However, they are more known for making clothes of plant fibers, which are tougher, and can also be worked into gambesons, which are vital in their struggles against the Nalsai.
Southern Regions
The south is the coldest of the baskth lands, it is further divided between two mountain-encircled lands, where the nations of Ustakh and Asamakh have formed. These regions are have mild summers and frigid winters, and they are a most hardy of folk. Still, the pine forests and frozen lakes of the region have much wildlife to offer, and while the harvest season is short, the soil is fertile. Still, these people rely on trade with their neighbours to thrive, and the people from here are the most open to outsiders, and are seen trading their wares all over the continent.
Their llamas produce thick fur, which keeps them warm in the winter, and they keep many of them for the meat, for of all the Baskth, the southerners eat the most meat. They also keep mammoths for much the same reasons.
The south is also rich in Mitril, more so than the other mountain regions, which brings them great wealth.
Technology
They seem to have a quite sophisticated level of technology, on par with the continent, they use well-crafted, although strangely shaped steel swords, and they have even been seen with mithril and jet, although these are mostly used for jewelry, and jet has only been seen in its raw, unrefined state, so it is assumed that they lack the technology to work the metal.
They have vast networks of roads and trade highways, and their cities are protected by sophisticated runic defenses.
