History

Feln Volaris was first founded as a colony of Alyha Dorei, and the elven city gradually grew up within the walls of a large castle complex that served as the seat of power. Much later, when Volaris was chosen as the location where elves and humans would learn to live together in peace, the architects of the ambitious plan envisioned a central gathering place that would serve as the social, economic, and political heart of the city: the Agora Vera, or Forum of the Peacemakers.
The original castle complex was demolished, its stone removed to outside the walls (forming the hill upon which the royal palace of Atra would eventually be built). In its place was the expansive public square of the Agora; the only buildings that remained standing within the walls were residences around the perimeter. The Agora itself was mostly open to the sky, paved with marble interspersed with greenery and reflecting pools. The only structures within were a symposium, a bathhouse, a theater, and a library. In the five millennia since then, as the Verans became their own unique people and spread their culture beyond Atra to the rest of the world, the importance of the Agora Vera to the day-to-day lives of most Volarians has diminished. But, the "Old Agg" is still thought of as the historical heart of Feln Volaris, and it is home to a sprawling, quasi-permanent bazaar that remains a frequent destination of locals and tourists alike.
