Rei Ilyani is a significant supporting character in The Sentinels: Night Mother. He is the highly respected and formidable head of the Edenvalia Gladestalkers, and the father of the initiate Ariya Malanti.

History and Background

An Elf with a lifespan of over four hundred years, Rei has lived a long and eventful life. In his younger years, he was an active adventurer, undertaking perilous missions such as exploring a trapped and monster-infested tomb in Kogheim alongside his friend, the Sentinel Shalen Maple. Like other Elves, he has gone through numerous "awakenings," having shifted careers eight times, which has provided him with a vast repository of experience and knowledge.

In the present day, Rei holds the prestigious and demanding position of "Edenvalia's spymaster," leading the commandery's primary intelligence organization. His duties often involve high-level diplomacy and reporting directly to the war council of the Hegemony.

Personality

Rei presents a notable juxtaposition of a deadly professional and a loving family man. In his official capacity, he is a master of espionage, but with his family and friends, he is warm, supportive, and possesses a mischievous sense of humor, often making terrible puns.

He is a profoundly wise and caring father to Ariya. Following a traumatic event, he provides her with comfort and insightful advice drawn from his own centuries of experience with loss and failure.
