The Amazonian Drylake

Geography

The Amazonian Drylake is a 304 foot wide by 308 foot long by 20 feet deep area surrounded by rising dunes. Other than the manmade ruins, it is a completely normal dune pit.

Localized Phenomena

The area inside the Amazonian Drylake is enchanted, causing a virgin birth in those who remain in it too long (this happens for any species and of any biological sex). The Amazons of Argai used this pit as their way of reproducing. Notably, those born through the magic of the Amazonian Drylake cannot be any other biological sex than who gave birth to them.

History

The first recorded use of the Amazonian Drylake is in an ancient book from Argai, written in Rundridic of all languages. The mention's exact translation could be vague, but the majority of academia say it translates to 'the trip to the rebirth pond is soon'. The book is dated back to the early 4000 BC.

The next major mention was over 5000 years later, in the year 1765, when the Argai-Gailrus War occurred. The Gailrian Army wrote that their plan was to attack the Amazonians when they went on their pilgrimage to, as they put it, 'the lake without water that bears human fruit'.

Finally, the remanaints of the Amazonians have forsaken the pilgrimage, instead either choosing to live near the drylake, or to foresake the tradition entirely.

It is unknown if the Drylake ever had water in it, as the oldest records do not have a distinction if the pond was dry or wet. Due to it being so deep in the Al' Ryo desert, most academics believe that it was always dry. But since Rundridic didn't have a convenient way to record dry lake, they could have just wrote the normal word for lake and left it at that.
