Lisiimi Isamawa

King In Name of The Supreme Deity, Siima the Ancestor, Lisiimi Pimanulot Eswala Mduru Pim Awawe, The Exalted (a.k.a. Isamawa)

Divine Domains

For the people who believe in the Siima Religion Lisiimi is a major god, the god of war, politics and, oddly, death. Three temples in New Ilandia are devoted to him:
  • Lisiime Temple, in Amisa, New Ilandia
  • Lisiime Temple, in Draxton, formerly known as Zuba, New Ilandia
  • Greater Lisiimi Temple, in Almota, New Ilandia
For the Catholics in New Ilandia however he is a Saint, the Patron Saint of the Native Peoples of New Ilandia, but his position was never ratified by the Pope. Even though he's not an official saint 9 churches are devoted to him:
  • Saint Lisime Church, New Paxton, New Ilandia
  • Saint Lisime Church, Silvermines, New Ilandia
  • Saint Lisime Church, Almota, New Ilandia
  • Saint Lisime Church, Titer, New Ilandia
  • Saint Lisime and Saint Joseph Church, Ranoldon, New Ilandia
  • Saint Lisime of Siimi Church, Framton, Ilandia
  • Saint Lisime of Siimi Church, Ungerstadt, Thetam
  • Saint Lisime of Siimi Church, Newfoudcity, New Ilandia
  • Saint Lisime of Siimi and the Native Peoples, Schapen, New Ilandia
He is said to be a patron saint for the oppressed, and those who are in need of civilisation.     The Ilaqa Religion, which actually is more of a sect and also a movement of independence "warriors" who fought against the Ilandian rule in Liliputia, sees him as a martyr of Asturgazian freedom.

Holidays

8 September is a holiday for the Siimi Religion.   8 September is devoted to him, as well as to hundreds of other saints according to the Catholics.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Overall, Isiimi was a very brave, robust man, who showed very little fear and did not shy away from a tough fight. When he was young, he excelled with his speed, swift tactical mind, and brutality during fights. When he was older, on the other hand, his physical strength and tactical ingenuity were more apparent. Even after he reached the blessed age of 65, which was a pretty old age in those days, he was still considered one of the bravest and strongest soldiers and most ingenious generals in the history of the tribe.

Body Features

When he was 68 years old, Lisiimi injured his right leg while hunting. After a year of revalidation, he was finally able to walk again, albeit in great pain. For the rest of his life he was mainly crippled, but he was still able to get over the pain and fight in battles and march with his soldiers, which he saw as his duty as the king. It is not impossible that he took painkillers and drugs to cope with this.

Facial Features

In a fight with the settlers, incidentally the same fight in which Alexander Asturgez may have been injured, the Battle of New Merton, he was hit by an enemy bayonet, a grazing shot, which left a large wound on his right jaw. Later that battle, which he surprisingly won and survived, an enemy soldier stabbed him in the right eye. Since then he was blind on one side.   You could easily recognise him by these two wounds on his face.

Apparel & Accessories

He always wore a black cape, made from the finest pieces of Rimipaca wool, and was always armed with a longsword, a knife and a spear. After his accident while hunting he also started using his spear as a walking stick.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

During most of his life his sole motivations were to restore the Siimi Tribe to its former glory and to do everything he could to end the conquest of the colonists.   But another motivation was to be remembered as a great, pious king, who did not bow for anyone.

Virtues & Personality perks

According to his men, and even his nemesis, vicemonarch of New Ilandia, Alexander Asturgez, he was a military genius and "most civilised among the savages". People admired his personal strenght and physiscal appearance, as well as his courage in battle. He ruled the Amiisi Tribe with even hand, introduced new laws and centralised his power. Even though he fought endless wars his people's standard of living improved, mainly thanks to his centralisation which decreased the power of the local lords. Overal he ruled with even hand.

Vices & Personality flaws

The most famous of all his failings was his refusal to recognise that the colonisation and assimilation of his country was inevitable. Although he was very close to victory at times, he could never really prevail; Ilandia was simply too advanced and powerful. He thought, wrongly, that if he wiped out all the colonists Ilandia would see that there was no gain to be made, but underestimated the Ilandian expansionism.   His stubborness was, according to Alexander Asturgez, his only flaw, together with the fact that he was a native, of course.

Social

Reign

His reign lasted from 1548 to his death in 1582.   The Siima Kingdom gained a few minor terriories during his reign, but quickly collapsed after his death.

Religious Views

Lisiimi believed in the Siimi Religion, a polytheist religion and one of the few still living polytheist religion these days. The concept of a monotheist religion was plain stupid to him, and he during his life prosecuted all monotheists (Christians) in his and other countries.

Hobbies & Pets

He had a few pet dogs, gifts from Alexander Asturgez, which he used while hunting and fighting. At the end of his life he had approximately 80 dogs, which he used in both war and hunt.   All of his dogs and their descendants were killed in the Battle of Amisa thirteen years after his death.

Wealth & Financial state

Milton Mishima studied Lisiimi's wealth, and calculated he at least was worth the equivalent of £150,000,000. It is unclear how rich Lisiimi was, or how rich his tribe was. The few clues we have come from settlers, who usually either exaggerate or understate everything, leaving aside the few ruins and archaeological finds from that time. Assuming Wilfred van Bourgis, a wealthy explorer known for his fair description of local cultures, to be correct, Milton estimates that Lisiimi was at least an extremely wealthy king, who at least had the equivalent of £150 million. Wilfrid of Bourgis said this about the kings jewels:
In his everyday life King Lisiimi wears golden earrings which are worth a fortune in Ilandia, while asleep he wears a veil of thin silver, and his belt buckle, which is the Amiisian equivalent of a crown, is made of pure gold and silver and decorated with tens of jewels as big as pees. But nothing surpasses his breastplate he wears in battle, made from the best iron and decorated with pure gold he could easily be seen in battle. With the arrival of colonists and guns however he started fighting almost naked, like most of his men, as even his armour couldn't withstand Ilandian technologies.
Note: Altough there was a lot of both gold and silver in New Ilandia it was very hard to obtain for his mineworkers as they didn't have the equipment to make decent mines.

Quotes & Catchphrases
I do not think it is worth mentioning that large parts of your lands rightfully belong to me, and that I will do whatever it takes to free Mswajena [Siima for New Ilandia] from the cancer that is your settlers and their leaders and recapture my lands. I hereby declare that our non-aggression pact is over, and on behalf of all respectable tribes, I declare war on the devilish settlers and the far foreign kingdom of Ilandia.
