  Dreams of legendary adventures filled Shiobe’s childhood as she studied dragon myth and history with her father. Those came to fruition upon her defeat of the Flame Stone’s trials, which bonded her to the Flame Dragon. Now she wishes nothing more than to use her knowledge to guide Sikode to the Ice Stone and watch him fulfill his lifelong desire to become a dragon companion.
  Dreams of an icy dragon and a fist-sized diamond atop a silver wand plagued Sikode’s youth. They convinced him that dragons were more than myth, and that he needed to find the Ice Stone, complete the magickal trials held within, and bond to a dragon.
  To fulfill their dreams, Shiobe, Sikode and climber Ceten travel to Hekara’s Abyss, the home of Lajaka, the Ice Dragon of Lassa. Resting high in the Re a tari Mountains of Rakan, it is a place of deep snows and freezing winds, which makes the hunt for a secret entrance perilous.
  They discover that hazardous weather is not the only danger awaiting them. The cult of bloodmages has dug its fingers into the communities that rest in the shadow of the Abyss, tainting all they touch with foul promises and fouler magick. For Sikode to realize his dream, he and Shiobe must eradicate the bloodmage influence first.
  But the bloodmages and their deity have a dream as well, and they will do anything to attain it.

Liminal Shadows

  Shadows fill Shiobe's life. She wanders the streets of Iova alone, yearning for a legendary swordswoman's life, but doing more translating of old manuscripts than battling enemies and mysterious creatures.
  Enter the spy. Shiobe knows trusting Sikode is ludicrous, but he offers her the adventure and companionship she desires. She snatches the opportunity, but conjurers, kidnappers, underground slave rings and twilight monsters might end her before the rosy fingers of her new dawn rise.

Shades of Treachery

  Accepting her new dawn with Sikode brings the adventure Shiobe craves. A map she translates for King Shiel of Illena hints at the reality of mythic dragons and begins the quest to achieve Sikode's lifelong dream of dragon mastery.
  But not all goes as planned. Assassins target Shiel's cousin, and Shiobe and Sikode discover the dead Merren despot's bloodmages are not as vanquished as the Merren and Illenan crowns assume. Defeating such dire enemies takes precedence, but another worry grips them; Kitta and Rien also travel to the Glass Volcano in search of the dragon.

The Glass Volcano

  Neither assassin nor bloodmage prevented Shiobe and Sikode from reaching the Glass Volcano, home to Kykini Cede, Flame Dragon of Kassak. With local climber Ceten as their guide, they enter the volcano in search of the Kandari, the dragon's controlling artifact.
  They are not alone within the dark interior. Rivals from Solin and Oritan hound their steps, and enemy bloodmages have tracked Shiobe to the lair, intent on retrieving their sylf-blessed stone she accidentally stole.
  Knowledge lights the way to the Flame Dragon, but the unexpected has a nasty way of blocking the path.
