The Cheat Code
Wielding God's Shotgun...
The Cheat Code is a spell used in
Arcana Discordia. The
Spell takes advantage of quantum states and uncertainty, as well as the naturally chaotic environment
Discordians create, to change the properties of a firearm. The spell requires virtually no effort to cast. By applying effort, you're more likely to fail casting the spell.
The spell is cast on rote for every Discordian who knows how the spell works. With the understanding of the spell in mind, they simply refuse to count their shots, refuse to learn how their firearm functions, and make it an active goal to never learn of how many rounds their firearm has when at max capacity.
If this information becomes known to the Discordian, the spell won't work for them if they continue to use the weapon. Often times, Discordians won't carry firearms to begin with, taking them off of fallen enemies instead to ensure their lack of knowledge.
The Effect:
When the Discordian uses the weapon, the bullets in the mag enter a quantum state. The mag is both full and empty. It is also in every possible state it can be between full and empty, and is in all these different states at the same time.
The result: the weapon is no longer bound by a limited amount of ammunition that can be fired. Discordians who use the spell will never need to reload so long as the magazine is never ejected, refilled, or the bullets remain uncounted.
Discordians will often take a fully automatic rifle, hold the trigger down, and proceed to fire round after round for long periods of time to the shock of their enemies and allies alike.
Restrictions: This spell is only usable if the gun has more than two rounds of capacity. A twin barrel shotgun, weapons where only a single bullet can be loaded as well as various antique firearms will not work. Revolvers and other firearms where the ammunition is visible will also fail to make use of the spell, as being unobserved is required to enter the quantum state.
Failsafes- Durability: Firing a weapon at a constant rate generates heat. Every round fired can build up that heat, and eventually, will damage the weapon. The barrel can melt due to excessive fire.
The Problem With Quantum States: Every Discordian must remember an important fact: The weapon is always full, has at least one bullet to fire, and is also empty simultaneously. This means at random intervals, the gun will not fire a bullet, instead misfiring only to go back to firing once more. If this happens several times in a row, the Discordian is bound to notice , and register the magazine as empty, which negates the quantum state, ending the spell for that weapon.
Great article, really enjoyed reading it.
