The goal was to set up a trading partner on this side of the gate so that they could open trade with the known universe. However when the Itherians came the Byni protected the knowledge of how to cross the gate so that Itheria would not come into the known universe. This kept the empire in the pocket universe for all of its reign and now that it has fallen and the Electhor has figured out how to cross the gate the Byni hope to open trade and the worlds of the pocket universe need it badly. However there is the danger of Itheria retaking their galaxy and finding out how to cross the gate, which would allow them much more territory to conquer. The Byni will do all they can to stop this from happening.

When the Byni return to Neman they will discover that they are worshipped and rather than crash an entire society's religious belief they will play the part in order to reach their goals.
