Vinnel

Linnel's largest colonial city. It's sprawling population takes up most of the island it is built upon. It lacks the industrialized nature of the rest of Linnel.
Vinnel is a sprawling island city and the largest colonial outpost of the Lindin Kingdom, located at the heart of the empire's overseas dominions. A hub of trade and cultural exchange, it serves as both a gateway to Lindin's colonial interests and a melting pot of diverse populations. Despite its significance, Vinnel reflects the neglected status of Lindin's colonies, standing in stark contrast to the industrialized cities of the mainland.

In 1809, Suna and Lindin signed an agreement that instated privateering will not be conducted against each other after a long period of competition. Sunan merchant ships were allowed access to Lindin and in return, the East Azmith Trading Company would be granted control of the small Azmith trading post on the Island of Azira. This trading post would become what is now known to the world as Vinnel.

Vinnel is situated on a fertile island surrounded by calm seas and dotted with harbors that enable its role as a trading hub. The city's design is organic, with winding streets and markets reminiscent of older settlements in Suna or Eren, rather than the regimented layouts of Lindin's industrial centers. At its heart lies the Governor’s Quarter, home to colonial administrators and wealthy merchants. This district features stately homes and government buildings constructed in Lindin's architectural style, emphasizing grandeur and authority. Surrounding this core are bustling neighborhoods, markets, and docks teeming with activity. The outskirts give way to displaced Azmith farming communities, whose forced relocation has shaped the island’s agriculture-based economy.

Vinnel's population is richly diverse, reflecting the city’s colonial nature. Lindin settlers form the ruling elite, overseeing the colony's governance and commerce. Sunans and Erens are prominent in trade and craftsmanship, bringing their cultural influences to the city's architecture, cuisine, and traditions. Astanans, often marginalized, provide much of the city’s labor force, particularly in the docks and farmlands. The Azmith natives, displaced from the city center, live in farming communities on the island's outskirts, contributing significantly to its agricultural output but bearing the brunt of colonial oppression. Unlike the industrialized cities of Lindin proper, Vinnel remains largely agrarian and trade-focused. The colony has been deprived of the technological advancements that transformed the mainland over the past century. Instead, its economy mirrors that of older cities in Suna or Eren, relying on manual labor, artisanal crafts, and the export of raw goods.
