Artifical Incubation

Removing any form of danger from giving birth or growing another creature within you has had great effect in society, particularly in freeing parents from the potential harm of a natural birth, and allowing them to have any amount of children at any time when they wish. Additionally, artificially incubated children can be rid of all potential negative genetic drift within the process before it becomes and issue, or even be modified to improve their genetics further, or tailored to the parent's wishes.

The use of artificial incubation and birth within society has overall improved the quality of not only life, but the population of the galaxy - with the capability to completely prevent genetic negative developments, with the added benefit of no accidental procreation, the quality of life of nearly everyone has improved.   However, not everything is perfect - the use of mid-incubation gene mods created a sect of ideals and actions to produce so called "Designer Babies," not just improved, but tailor made to be "perfect," potentially at singular tasks. This can cause the offspring to be raised by parents with extremely specific expectations, even to the degree of using illegal Neural Restructuring to have the child act in line with the parent's wishes.   Furthermore, some individuals reject the use of artificial incubation altogether, modding fertility back into their genome and opting to give natural birth. While not an inherently problematic action, the damage to the genes over multiple generations simply due to random chance can quickly turn back into genetic diseases or genetic malformation, especially with the heightened amounts of radiation that most experience in their lives as space travel becomes exponentially more required to function in the galaxy.
