Carinda
Geography
Carinda is over 90% covered by ocean. What land masses exist are mostly volcanic islands, and are within the tropical band on the planet. There is a lack of biodiversity because of this - if there is enough rain and nutrients to support plant life, the islands are covered in jungle, otherwise they are stretches of sand leading away from the volcanic peaks. These islands have clustered in three groups: the Zindan Stretch, 6000 miles long and containing the vast majority of sapient beings; the Draconic Cluster, a group of hundreds of islands in a 2 million square mile stretch and dominated by dragons and their servant species; and another 4 million square mile cluster of land that has unexplored and unmapped jungle.
Away from the islands, the ocean stretches incredibly deep. No one from the surface has explored the depths away from the islands, so almost nothing is known about them.
Climate
Carinda has a small axial tilt, leading to almost no change in season. The planet is warm enough that there is no permanent ice on the surface. All land is in the tropical zones of the planet, and most of it is rain forest. The rest of the land is arid or desert, where tricks of the geography have led to little or no rain.
History
The city-state of Zinda, head of the Jeli Empire, is located on the southern tip of the island named for it. The single largest island in the Zinda Stretch, Zinda is approximately 150,000 square miles, runs north to south with a z-curve, and averages around 200 miles across. The island was formed by a series of volcanoes, and there are three active peaks running north to south in the center of the island. The Jeli Empire covers the entire island of Zinda, and claims the surrounding islands, although they have no real presence on most of them. The other islands are sparsely settled by tribes that move from island to island, following the movement of various fish and sea mammals.
The Grung Isles are in a state of cold war with Zinda - the Grung hate the Zindans, and the Zindans see the Grung isles as future resources theirs whenever they want them. The Grung have little ability to project power over the ocean, and the Zindan know they cannot win a fight in the swamps, so no serious fighting has occurred in decades.
The Loa consist of scattered tribe of fey touched humanoids, with thin areas where the true fey make contact. Great wisdom can be had, but the Loa can learn more about the seeker than they might wish. The Loa and the Zinda are close trading partners. Zinda ships wines, dyes, books, and jewelry to Loa, and Loa sends food, amber and lumber to the Zinda.
