Ri Ansu
Ju-ui Taebugong Ansu Ri
Ri Ansu, more commonly known by her posthumous title Ju-ui Taebugong, was a leader of the Baekhae and the founder of the current Ri Dynasty. She was responsible for resolving the civil strife that had resulted in the effective self-destruction of the previous ruling dynasty, the Baek Dynasty and maintained peace and security as head of the regency council. She was pressured to become Wang, but continuously refused and endeavored to find an acceptable candidate among the surviving members of the Baek Dynasty and its cadet branches. Upon her death the monarchy remained vacant, so the Ministers and Lords of the regency council decided to declare her daughter, Daeshil Wang, the next Wang of Baekhae and the first ruling monarch of the Ri Dynasty. Unlike in other instances where this has happened, it was decided that Ri Ansu would be given the title Ju-ui Taebugong to honor her wishes to not become the monarch.

Personal history
Ansu was born in the village of Gowonhang to a family of well-to-do craftspeople. She took full advantage of her grandmother's role as keeper of the village Gongryeojeon to gain access to the collection of religious and practical texts. Lacking a formal teacher in the village, this was Ansu's main source of education.
She likely would have just come to succeed her grandmother as a local notable if she had not met her teacher and future advisor, Riyukju. He had been exiled from the capital of Baekhae by the current government in power. Initially wanting to be left alone, Ansu convinced him to let her become their student. It was at this time that she passed her first exams at the provincial level.
Following a power shift in the capital, Riyukju was able to return from exile and brought Ansu with her. She quickly passed the national exam at a high level and received an official grade. She then joined the Baekhae Ministry, first as an internal investigator. (story of being in the ministry to be elaborated later.)
