General Summary
Continued Scene: Nexus > 5+2 > on-boarding event
Dao Ping runs in to Ling-Li and Sigurvin Buss who used to work in the city departments.
They mostly know one another by their inter-office reputation.
Fortifier asks Hidden-by-radiance about the giant tree we found in the Orbulin.
Hidden-by-radiance has recovered well from the Blight, but not as much from the torture he endured.
Fortifier makes plans for Hidden to return to 12 Carnelian Peaches when the party is over.
Hidden discusses how long it has been for him.
Stelsor speaks to a Djala acrobat
Stelsor finds Prital’s here. Her Resplendent Destiny is glitching somewhat as she is still getting the hang of them.
Dreamflower speaks to Tide-tamer.
Tide-tamer is expecting to hear from The Silver Pact elders soon.
The factions within the Pact that have been split on being offensive or defensive toward the Realm may be close to aligning their plans.
Side-scene: Introducing Acolotorian Baki
Acolotorian Baki is a student of Raksi, the legendary sorceress and queen of Mahalanka.
Flew from Mahalanka to Nexus as a red-tailed hawk.
Arrives at the 5+2 and goes upstairs to the party of some 50 people.
Acolotorian locates Tide-tamer as matching a description of their contact.
Acoloctorian’s human form has dark skin, short braided hair down to his neck, long beard to the middle of his chest with red beads in it. Wearing a dark silver robe.
Acolotorian addresses Tide-tamer who was still speaking with Dreamflower.
Acolotorian would prefer to discuss Lunar business with Tide-tamer in a more private setting.
Dreamflower, as a co-owner of the restaurant, leads them to a less crowded space.
Tide-tamer trusts Dreamflower to attend this meeting alongside him.
Tide-tamer explains that, when Lunars meet like this, they often take their hybrid forms; Tide-tamer becomes a tall, muscular orca-human hybrid.
The two Lunars discuss their respective shahan-yas.
Continued Scene: Rejoining the larger 5+2 event
Acolotorian senses that nearly all the guests in the room are Essence-users of some variety.
2 large men are apparently about to begin arm-wrestling. One might be a Lunar and the other might be a Solar. (Vingosh and Steele Cast)
Dao Ping begins organizing a betting pool.
A woman on crutches, with silver hair and many bandages, enters and is jealous at her brother, Vingosh, having fun without her. This is Anya Silverclaws.
She had an arm and both legs broken recently and this is the first event her physicians have permitted her to attend.
Fortifier asks her about her injuries and offers to treat her after the party as well. Anya waves it off, expecting she will recover soon enough, though she does angle for a extra hazard pay. (Her injuries were received when she snuck into Metagalapa for us.)
While others test their physical might, Dao Ping sets up to hustle people at Gateway.
He also uses this opportunity to appraise the new hires’ aptitudes for strategy and lateral thinking.
Reyana seems to also be taking very similar notes on the other attendees.
As the party winds down
In the entire evening, Anya is the only opponent to tie Dao Ping at Gateway.
Nora and Flora were seen leaving on the respective arms of Shuns.
Last to leave is Dao Ping (and Li Shu) when he hears a moaning behind him. It seems Tide-tamer lost at arm-wrestling and then may have drank too much in defeat (no mean feat for someone as large as Tide-tamer).
When they wake Tide-tamer, there’s a flash of something and then he is suddenly sober.
As they all walk out, Dao Ping senses something odd hiding in Tide-tamer’s shadow. Upon scrutiny, Dao Ping senses it is the ghost of Tide-tamer’s girlfriend.
Most of the circle is preparing to meet with the Council of Entities soon
Tide-tamer is hosting Acolotorian at his den outside the city.
We contact Master Guildswoman Prognositicator Wandry to get an impression of the meeting ahead of when we have to appear. She explains it doesn’t quite seem momentous enough to be something she can
Scene: Nexus > City Hall
We go to city hall and Acolotorian meets us there.
The council’s business with us concerns a direct violation of a (2-day-old) civility (Nexus’s lower tier of laws). The law levies a steep fine for hiring more than 30 foreign-born employees in too short of a period. The fine is a full talent of silver.
Stelsor leads the circle in successfully swaying the council to throw out the rule.
We look up which councilor created this new civility: it was the councilor from Bastion District.
Dreamflower senses (Jade Leaves a Trail) that the councilor from Bastion District goal was to collect money and we were an easy target.
Scene: Later at 12 Carnelian Peaches
Fortifier describes the giant tree he found inside the Orbulin to Acolotorian.
Acolotorian does recognize the type of tree as one from far in the East beyond Mahalanka.
Fortifier explains it was one of several elemental landmarks stolen by a villain.
