Ceresian Scavangers HQ

Headquarters of the Ceresian Scavengers   Located inside the Tellus Space Port   View inside the main HQ workshop:

Purpose / Function

The purpose of the HQ is to have a large enough space to work on restoring old junk ships. The Scavers have all the tools and equipment they need in their workshop, including a welding torch, a 3D printer, and a large supply of spare parts. The warehouse is where they store all the parts and pieces they find. There is also a small break room and a recreation area.

Entries

As well as the main entrance and exit onto the main concourse of Tellus Space Port, there is a secure lift which leads to the hangar bay below the main Tellus Landing Pads.   Finally, there is a secure, airtight and pressurised exit to an emergency escape vehicle, charged with enough power to take any occupants a short drive to safety. This is owned and operated by Tellus Space Port and any unauthorised use will result in a fine.

Sensory & Appearance

The Ceresian Scavengers headquarters is dark and lit only dimly with Daylites in the ceilings and the walls. Lighting for work is usually required in the form of lanterns or headlamps, or the screens of any device.   Music can often be heard from the Tellus radio through any of the various radios hooked up to the Quantum Communications Network. Occasionally there is also the sound of a Zero-G match or communication from Tellus Space Port, but all of these sounds have to compete with the machinery and the sounds of the busy spaceport itself.   The HQ has a chemical smell of grease, white spirits and welding fumes with a slight tinge of ozone. This is due to the many machines within the HQ that need regular maintenance and the occasional repair.

Architecture

The headquarters is a large, imposing structure made of concrete, glass and metal. The architecture is simple and industrial, taking advantage of the low Ceresian gravity while maintaining a secure barrier against the local Ceresian atmosphere.

Defenses

Thanks to being located within the Tellus Space Port, the Ceresian Scavengers HQ has a variety of defences to protect its assets, including a large force field, multiple automated turrets, and a fleet of drones. The headquarters is also equipped with a self-destruct system that can be activated in the event of an emergency.

Environmental Effects
The temperature and humidity in the Ceresian Scavengers HQ are both very low, thanks to the use of air conditioning and climate control.    The pressure and gravity levels are maintained at close to Earth levels, the same as in other parts of Tellus. The oxygen level is maintained by a life support system.    The dust level is high, not only due to the Tellus clay dust but also due to the industrial dust from the various machines being fixed and the machines creating parts, a mask is advisable in most parts of the workshop.    There are the constant sounds of machines and the busy spaceport can be heard from outside the HQ.
