Kankos

Golden fields of hay adorn the steppes of Kankos, with the massive wall of their gigantic city always visible to the East, unless you were in the swamplands to the North-West. The city is glorious, with steam and clockwork machinery lining the streets, providing all sorts of services.

Geography

Steppes and rolling hills make up almost half of the skyland. The North-West region sits lower, and collects most of the runoff water from the plains, resulting in a boglike swamp. Spindly, leafless trees which appear dead grow in these marsh and swamplands. Kosia City, a marvel in its own right, occupies nearly half of the continental skyland.

Localized Phenomena

There is said to be a strange tree, located deep within the heart of the swamplands. There it is said a witch protects said tree, which acts as a channel for souls to reach the After. The witch is said to have gathered a following of the Beastfolk which inhabit many parts of Kankos to help in her duty.

Natural Resources

Though there are not many trees on the skyland, the ground below is rich with metal resources, and the steppes make for good farmland.

History

Kankos has a storied and checkered past. The skyland has always been divided, with its inhabitants at each others throats from the beginning. KosiansĀ and Beastfolk both believe they are the first inhabitants, and have butted heads for over a thousand years. Eventually the Kosians' superior technology and organization drove the Beastfolk into the swamps to the Northwest.   The Kosians, who'd been at the recieving end of the Beastfolks' magicks, developed a deep-rooted cultural disdain for anything arkane. They detest Magiteck, and have mastered the arts of mechanation using natural resources such as steam and coal. Their technology is highly advanced as a result of Kosian engineers trying to stay ahead of magick.
