Hoelun
Temujin’s mother
Hoelun was stolen from her husband, Chiledu the Merkit chief, by Yesugei, Temujin's father. Chiledu was brother to Chilgur-Boko, the man who kidnapped Borte in revenge, shortly after her marriage to Temujin.
All through her life, Hoelun was Temujin's chief counselor.
Yesugei was murdered by the Tayichiut tribe on the return trip home after Temujin's and Borte's betrothal was finalized. Hoelun became the sole support of the family after Yesugei's clan refused to help and drove them away from Yesugei's ordu.
She moved them deep into the forest and stole and scoured the steppe for food to feed the children.
