Yesugei was married to Hoelun, also Sochigel. He fathered two sons with Sochigel and four children, three sons and a daughter, with Hoelun.
Yesugei and Temujin were on a search for a bride for Temujin when Temujin first caught sight of Borte and pointed her out to his father.
They entered the ordu of Borte's family, and Yesugei and Dei Sechen, Borte's father, spent several days negotiating the terms of the betrothal.
Meanwhile, Temujin and Borte played happily together in the forest. She was nine summers of age; Temujin was eleven.
Yesugei was murdered by the Tayichiut as he and Temujin returned home from this journey.
