Bulgan
Khulan’s mother and principal wife to Chilgur Boko, chief of the dreaded Merkit tribe of forest people who kidnapped Borte just days after her marriage to Temujin;
Borte kills Bulgan to escape her enslavement to Khulan at the hand of the Merkit;
To kill Bulgan, Borte used a common, though brutal, method. After bringing the woman down she flipped her to her stomach and planted one knee on Bulgan's spine. With Bulgan's arms behind her, Borte jerked the woman's shoulders upward sharply, breaking her spine. The injury brought certain death.
