What makes the right to rule? According to Prios Dawnbrow, the answer is power. Those who wield power have a right to rule how they please, and those who are weaker exist to serve. This was the ethos Prios presented to the leaders of The Ironhold Pride, who were searching for a way to protect the Leonin from the patrolling Wild Hunt. Refusing to accept no for an answer, Prios challenged the strongest of the pride to a duel, to prove that he was the best to rule. Instead, Prios was cast out.
Though not accepting his banishment, Prios left The Everbright to gain strength, and one day return as its ruler. In his travels, Prios learned many spells, becoming an incredibly powerful Bladesinger in his adventures. Eventually, this took him to The Overworld, and the city of Freeheath. Here, he met Madar Skygrove and Indrid Barkrirsk, who convinced him to halt his adventures, and use his knowledge of the planes to help their research. Using this knowledge, along with Indrid's alchemical and artificial talents, they managed to discover the magic of Deeds, which led to the creation of the Empire of Ilien.
Prios does not wish to be one of a council, and expressed as much not long after the defeat of Ruin, challenging Madar to a duel. This was ill timed, however, and lead to the discovery that bonds with Dragons grants great power to the non-dragon. Madar soundly defeated Prios, who swore allegiance to the man from then on. Since then, he has challenged Madar several more times, but has lost every time. Eventually, Prios hopes to defeat Madar and use the strength of the Empire to conquer the Ironhold Pride for himself. Until then, he is perhaps Madar's deadliest servant.
