Resolutionary Tasks 25
Here we go again, another year of Resolutions to improve ourselves and whatnot. While I am not really into stuff like that, I am into reading all the fine reading material that came from WorldEmber last year to see what I can learn from it; that is much easier, to say the least. And allowing all those authors to have their time in the spotlight, no matter how small is a win every chance you get. I am also back in my grove since I completed my goal of fifty grand for World Ember, so things should be smooth now.
Top Picks
Miros and the Boar
It is a nice little story about overcoming the odds against a force that seems overwhelming and unstoppable when it only takes the will to face it. I have written many myths but have yet to make them as short and more immersive than I want, which is often needed to engross readers. This is a good start in what I would like to do. World: Levis Author: AsmoThe Quartet
It is a unique take on a pantheon of gods that have their part to play in the world order, the inhabitants they rule over, and their eventual downfall. I have not done many things about gods or dealt with such a degree of how they interact with their creations. This has made me wish to seek a more interactive role where gods would play a role in the domain of their followers. World: The Great Tree Author:ThereasonwhyBlood Diamond Dance
Not all conflicts are about nations waging war with one another, nor are they honorable; in this case, greed is the motivator that leads to overall madness that can destroy a once great empire. I have made many conflicts over the years, but I tend to droll on about some of them a bit too much, and this article has allowed me to set it up for the better. World: Aeteria - The Shattered World Author: DarkseidQuickstone
A highly creative material that can transform based on the thought of whatever its user can imagine greatly adds to how people interact with such a unique material. Much of my way of thinking was to make a material look as realistic as possible, but seeing this reminded me that in fiction anything is possible so long that it fits in the world built around it. World: The Million Islands Author: DemongreyShadowpine Forest
A chilling forest to venture into filled with danger and mystery that only leads to more questions than answers in what truly goes on in this place shrouded by darkness. While I am no slouch about creating fantastical locations, I rarely add local wildlife into it due to space, however the idea of interactive descriptions cards have made me realize better ways of getting reader invested into a location and it many inhabitants. World: Kena'an Author: Make lore, not warGodpath
Magic being used to travel across different realities are a common trope to reach them, but having fixed portals to them are much more intriguing as they represent power to those that have a hold of them and are often safer to use more than other methods making them highly sought after. What makes this truly fascinating in my opinion is the fact that it applies idea of what happens in-between from one place to the other and what occurs during such as journey that it makes me want to add an otherworldly feel an mystery rather than just pop over to one reality to the next in any of my worlds involving journeys into the unknown through other means. World: Waking Materia Author: HallucigeniaTongue Flashing
I was often told to never stick my tongue out at people, but in this case you have to with this one of a kind language used by sentient reptiles rather than using words, making it greatly desired to learn all the more about it. I have also been a fan of none verbal forms of communications and have made a few of my own, but now this has given me the idea to create types based on animals behaviors for some of my none human races later on. World: P'Ache Author: elspeth87Abberath
A grim fate for those to be turned into living weapons for the sake of victory in war is often a moral dilemma for anyone on how far science is willing go even if it means to throw away one's Humanity in the process. I am no stranger of monstrous transformations and diseases in my writing, I have rarely considered the idea of a self made ones that are purposely done to achieve certain occupational goals which would make touch on much darker themes in my worlds. World: VISCERIUM Author: BladeswillfallNeujahrssuppe
A culinary dish with a spotty history that commemorates the beginning of the new year and dedication to the faith that is apart of it, you can even make it in your kitchen with a well thought out recipe attached to it. Recently I have been attempting to create enchanting foods to add a bit of flavor to cultures in my writing, but upon seeing this I have found a whole new aspect of creating food, a recipe that will show the nice juicy bits on how to make them or attempt as their stomachs growl and mouth water just by reading it. World: Mirintha Author: LeijonaEthnic Groups of Cassel
A fantastical description and detail of the many ethnic groups and races that encompasses enough details to leave one wanting to learn more and an interactive map to boot makes it all the more enticing to go through every detail as much as possible. I have done quite well creating cultures and races over the years, but putting them together into a regional description of cultures never came to mind. I have a few ideas in mind for adding more details to certain regions of my world to allow a greater understanding of their history and the roles that they play in it. World: Vreathe Author: Chrispy_0Honorable Mentions
All the authors deserve a spot as they stand out just like the rest.Past Resolutions
The Path Ahead
A new year has arrived, which means change is upon us, for better or worse, and we must figure out how to deal with the challenges that come with it. Much can be said about my plans for this year. Here are the following, which will revolutionize my crafting.
- This year, I have started a challenge that will go on for the whole year; it shall be known as Challengathon, where all shall prove themselves that their creativity has game.
- It has come to my attention that I need to improve the layouts of my home pages for my worlds this year, and that means adding new CSS code and other goodies to make them at the top of their game as soon as possible.
- I will attempt to reestablish contact with the community by joining a club and renovating my old discord to interact with fans of my work, amongst other things.
- Create new beachheads for the conquest of World Anvil and the current writer's hegemony over it
- More surprises to come when I want to show them, and no nagging will make me tell you otherwise; I have a spray bottle, just in case. Also, have a broom if plan A does not work out too well
Thanks for including Quickstone in your list! I’m glad you enjoyed it; good luck in the New Year!
