The Hidden Emperor
Alexander Aurelious was the third son of Emperor Theodosius IV, who was not expected to inherit anything from his family, unlike his older brothers, who were expected to rule the
Vatian Empire politics. Yet that would all change when it was discovered he was able to use magic at the age of eight, which would have easily caused severe political repercussions within imperial politics if ever discovered by his family. Due to the lack of understanding about magic during this time, many would have feared Alexander and would have done him harm if he were discovered, but he would not be forsaken by his family, and his father, who would allow one of his sons to be harmed. It would cause him to be sent away from
Vatia, to a monastery where he was meant to become a monk to live out the rest of his day hidden within the
Luminarium of the Exalted from all harm. Much of his youth would find himself studying the faith and
Alchemy, proving himself to be a knowledgeable individual, having a better understanding of the world around him as he sought to better understand his power with magic in secret.
Years would pass by and Alexander remained within faith, developing deeper in the hidden world of magic that few could ever understand, for hidden texts kept by the luminarium and aiding a secret mage haven he accidentally discovered through charity work. It was through these sources of knowledge that he would understand that he was born a Force Architect capable of using gravity magic, making himself one of the most powerful beings within the empire. Yet due to his circumstances, he believed the only way possible to bring about change was to become a member of the clergy and influence its stance on magic when he rose in the ranks. Yet before he could even take his vows to the faith, a tragic turn of events struck that forever changed his fate as he would come to learn that a conspiracy with the very heart of the empire murdered his father and brothers. As the last living heir of
House Aurelius, he would hold the fate of the entire empire in his hands. Yet, the danger still lingered as his family's assassins sought to end him as well to ensure the blood of Aurelious would forever be extinguished.
Rise Of A Visionary
It would not take long before the killers would find his whereabouts, for not even the holiest of places would stop them from ridding themselves of Alexander once and for all. They would, however, be too late to find him there as he was already long gone with the help of a loyal servant tasked with protecting him within the Luminarium and would have safety amongst the very mages that he aided from harm. It led him on a long and arduous journey that would allow him to grow stronger in the ways of magic and uncover the truth behind the conspiracy that was set to destroy the empire from within. These events culminated in the conflict known as the Hidden War, where those responsible for the untold deaths of many were known as the Hidden Order, seeking to rule the empire from the shadows to bring their designs to reality. However, that would not come to pass, as Alexander would see their plans come crashing down and ascend to his rightful place on the imperial throne.
While the crowning as emperor was not the most peaceful of transitions, he would ensure that all would respect his power and authority over them. In the decades to come, he would become instrumental in spreading knowledge of magic, enabling people to understand its nature better. Along with ending the persecution of mages and laws that would ensure they would become a part of a society that would use their gifts to better it. This would pave the way for many to hire magic users to create
Magic Items and join the military as
Battle Mages that would strengthen the empire even more. His crowning achievement was the
Alexandrian Academia of Crafts and Warfare that he would build himself to help those born with magic to have a place to learn to control their powers within the empire. By the time of his death, he would be remembered as one of the golden emperors and a visionary who brought magic into daily life in the
Western Lands.
