Vaya-Vatu is believed to be the oldest of The Nine — a timeless, genderless architect who has watched over reality since its creation, and by whose divine hands the first stars were called into being and set into their courses. They are the embodiment of harmony between seemingly opposing forces, reflected in the composition of their surreal-looking avatar: a luminous, multi-armed figure with a body divided into two tones, neither wholly masculine nor wholly feminine. Through these opposing aspects they assume the dual roles of both Gilder, who fashions beauty and adornment, and Shaper, who forges strength and permanence into all things.

Ancient myths claim that, before time began, only two deities existed — Valantyr, Sky-Mother of the elves, and Vultan, Forge-Father of the dwarves. Though great in their own right, they soon realized that balance between all things was impossible for either to achieve alone. To answer this, they merged their Oversouls into a single being, becoming the androgynous Vaya-Vatu. Thus was born the Star Weaver, who unites what cannot stand apart, weaving harmony from discord. For this reason, their teachings urge followers to turn inward, to resolve their own contradictions before they may truly embrace the cosmic balance Vaya-Vatu embodies.

The Star Weaver’s faithful are often mortals whose lives revolve around discipline and patient reflection. To ascetics, Vaya-Vatu is the pinnacle of self-perfection, who calls them to reconcile the divisions within their own hearts. To artisans, they are a source of inspiration, guiding the marriage of aesthetics and functionality. Their most devout worshippers leave offerings of finished works at Their shrines—woven cloth, carved wood, or polished stone—each an affirmation of their piety. They believe that by striving toward mastery of their craft, their works bring meaning to the world, just as the Star Weaver has done since the first light of creation.

Holy Day of Vaya-Vatu — The Zodiacal, traditionally held on Lughnasa, honors the constellations as living symbols of the Star Weaver’s design. Over the course of the day, their worshippers painstakingly craft star-charts from colored sands, each pattern depicting one of the twelve signs in vivid detail. At midnight, the charts are swept away in solemn ritual. The gathered sands are then poured into flowing water, carrying prayers skyward and affirming that all beauty, like the stars, shines brightest in its passing.

Taboo Practice — The Harbinger’s Hand is a doomsday cult within the Star Weaver’s faith, convinced that true harmony can only be achieved through the annihilation of all things. To them, Thumos—Vaya-Vatu’s stargazing Titan—was not a failure, but the Weaver’s most flawless creation, born to shepherd reality toward its rightful end. They gather in secret to prepare for his arrival, dreaming of the day his lucent prison cracks. Outsiders call their ideas mad, but among themselves, it is a necessary evil.
