Saint Orthrus
“I once was what you are, and one day you will be what I am.”
Saint Orthrus, born into a noble Uferlosi family, was chosen as a boy to be the next squire of the legendary Saint Roland, learning the art of rhetoric and swordsmanship under his tutelage. However, their paths diverged when Orthrus renounced his worldly goods to become a holy warrior. Through a series of mysterious trials, Orthrus came into the possession of Final Rest, an enchanted blade that bound itself to his soul in exchange for immortality. When word of this pact came to light, Orthrus found himself at odds with Lord Cerberus, his former liege lord, who accused him of being an undead abomination in need of eradication. Before their enmity could come to a head, however, a vile archfiend whom Orthrus had previously vanquished uttered a curse that stripped him of his power, causing him to rapidly age and die within days. Thus, the tale of Saint Orthrus, a valiant warrior that embraced both life and death, came to an end.
