Maudlin Bramblestein

“The greatest enemy of creativity is self-doubt.”
— an afaran gnome named Maudlin

Maudlin Bramblestein was an up-and-coming planar scholar who took a particular interest in the Otherworld, a largely unexplored plane of existence that she fearlessly joined the first expeditions into. Despite her dedication, much of her research was dismissed as inconsequential and discredited by the wider academic community. Undeterred, Maudlin channeled her understanding of the fey and their intricate hierarchy into enchanting bedtime stories for her beloved children. Content in her later years, she passed away surrounded by her family, her name forgotten by the outside world. Yet, her tale didn’t end there. Her children collected the cherished books she had written for them and had them beautifully illustrated and published. To their astonishment, Maudlin’s stories became some of the most renowned fables in the Isles, captivating generations with their magic. Recognizing the profound cultural impact of her work, Victor Curwen, the former High Regent of the Crown, formally immortalized her in the Royal Institute’s archives, ensuring that the Bramblestein legacy would live on.
