The Boann, the Tribe of Rivers

The Boann tribe are the people of the waters. They live in the Moorlands of Droyn, south of the Church of the Redeemer's idyllic Parhelion Vale. The Boann tribe follow a communal society, with at its centre a council of Elders. They are highly religious and spiritual, with the elders of the society acting as priests, shaman and chieftains. During times of war, the Boann elders designate the eldest of the warriors still capable of fighting, and make them the Warchief of the commune. The Boann themselves believed in the continuous maintenance of the natural order, placed immense respect in the wisdom of the Elders, and emphasised a peaceful approach to conflict, only choosing violence as a last resort. To the Boann, bloodshed is a change of the soul, something to mourn, and certain damnation.   The Boann Tribe live namely in their capital city of Eldshallow, a maze of canals, houses on stilts and floating markets populated by thousands of people, and culminating in the Temple of Thalass, the great kraken, whom they worship for the gift of water magic. The Boann are a sharp and peaceful folk, who prefer to chose discussion over violence. However this is a veil for a structured history of blood feuds, duels and political backstabbings. Boanns would prefer to eliminate their threats from the shadows, than face them outright.
