HORUS

HORUS is Sani'Tatem's primary mech manufacturer, but their history extends far further back. Originally, HORUS was the name of a cultural event for Sani'Tonian warriors in which they would hunt their first Beast. They would find a hostile creature that was overhunting an area or otherwise disrupting the natural life cycle of a given region, kill it, and bring the remains back to their village to use the remains to their fullest extent. The meat would be used as food, the skin for clothing, and the bone or scales for armour and weapons. During the Era of Sköll, this practice would evolve and the Sani'Tonians began fusing the organic aspects of the Beasts with mechanical and electrical components to create their own unique models of mecha. Each model is named after the Beast that it was made from.   To this day, many Sani'Tonians still practise the original meaning of HORUS. However, these days when a Sani'Tonian kills their quarry it becomes their personal mech for life, or until they hunt a new Beast in a hunt that was of extreme importance to either the hunter or their community. Since the inception of the L.A.N.C.E.R. Initiative hunters have been asked by Mundi to begin hunting Beasts for Lancer pilots. Some of the more traditional Sani'Tonians have expressed their displeasure with this request, but nonetheless Sani'Tatem as a whole has obliged with Mundi's wishes.

Achievements

The oldest achievement that HORUS obtained was the construction of armour that could somewhat protect Sani'Tonians against the full wrath of Sköll. By using the pieces of deceased Beasts, Sani'Tonians were able to get closer to Sköll than ever before, allowing them to conduct various experiments on the Amarok. This information would eventually allow the Sani'Tonians to predict Sköll's behaviour to such a precise extent that Hati could one day be built in relative safety. Moreover, the mechs built during the Era of Sköll also helped deter any displaced Beasts that would wander into Sani'Tonian villages.   HORUS technology would also be utilised in the assembly of Hati. Through the Sani'Tonian understanding of Beast biology, as well the numerous experiments ran on Sköll, HORUS was able implement armour plating and stabilisers on Hati to build a foundation that an entire city could be erected upon. Based on standard definitions of what is and isn't a mech, this would make Hati not only the largest mech ever constructed, but also the only living one. Thanks to this technological advancement, Sani'Tatem's people were once again able to live under the sun.

Use of AI

HORUS' Artificial Intelligence technology is unlike other manufacturers due to the source of their intelligence. Where other AI are modelled off of sapient beings' minds, HORUS uses the brains of tamed and trained Beasts as Sani'Tonians believe that their innate instincts can serve a pilot better than anything else. The SCYLLA Class-AI's honed senses are emblematic of this approach to Artificial Intelligence. When SCYLLA is "Unleashed", the pilot's mech will have a heightened reaction speed in regard to enemy movements; specifically, SCYLLA is primed to be protective of its allies and very territorial while in this mode and will attack enemies that threaten these interests. This behaviour tends to extend to SCYLLA's malfunctioning, however there is no telling as to who they see as an ally or what they see as their territory.   The Artificial Intelligence OSIRIS is a program derived from a Beast known as a Goblin. Goblins are some of the smallest hostile creatures that roam Sani'Tatem's surface, though that makes them no less deadly than larger creatures such as the Gorgon or Balor. Not only do they tend to hunt in groups, but they have the concerning ability to impair the systems of various mechs. They can send out electronic frequencies that slow and stun enemies, and can even reverse targeting systems so that mechs begin firing on their allies. It is only with the assistance of an OSIRIS Class-AI that a pilot can utilise this power. When malfunctioning, these AIs tend to be aggressive, determined to cause the greatest amount of damage and chaos possible with the tools at their disposal.   The SISYPHUS Class-AI is potentially the strangest of all the Artificial Intelligence systems in the galaxy. It is derived from a Beast known as a Pegasus (which in turn is potentially the strangest of all the creatures in the galaxy) whose abilities have thrown the galaxy's understanding of the laws of physics into question. Not only can a Peagasus alter parts of their body at will, but the SISYPHUS Class-AI seems to be able to alter the fabric of reality, albeit to a minor extent. SISYPHUS can allow a pilot to bend probability to their will, making said pilot infinitely luckier in the face of adversity. It is also the only HORUS AI that can verbally communicate with its pilot, though this can only be done when it is linked with a broadcasting device that it can use to mimic speech. A SISYPHUS AI' behaviour when malfunctioning is indescribable and unknowable.   The most recently developed AI system is the DIDYMOS Class-AI, only leaving the testing phase within the past few months. This AI has been desperately sought after by HORUS due to the rarity of the Beast that the AI is derived from, known as a Lich. Liches are known for their ability to evade would-be hunters by disrupting the space-time continuum itself, and the very existence of this Beast has thrown the conclusions that scientific, mathematical, religious and philosophical experts came to regarding fate and freewill back into conjecture. This ability can be utilised by the AI to a lessened degree. A DIDYMOS is one of the most intelligent AI systems made by HORUS, possessing an intelligence on par with IPS-N, HA and SSC mechs, however like other HORUS AI it cannot directly communicate with its pilot. No one knows what happens when this AI malfunctions, as it has not been used enough by pilots to have any reported malfunctions yet.
