Lunar Compass
"With regret I must inform Your Imperial Majesty that efforts to capture a Lunadorn with one of their Lunar Compasses has failed again" from report from Century Captain Hendi Delu to Empress Shontella XI
The Lunar Compass works only under moonlight. The moonlight infuses the crystals within and resonate with the area around them. The three pointers will then pivot, the longest will point towards the largest freshwater within twenty kilometers, middle will point north and the shortest will point towards the closest other Lunar Compass. This has allowed the Lunadorn to stay in contact with each other over the millennia.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
An almost impossibly complex array of crystals, springs and gears.
History
Long lost Lunadorn had some of the finest artificers of the pre Empire Era. From a time after the founding of the Kingdom of Favel, Lunadorn artificers mastered their craft and the legends say their work was so fine that it could mimic true magic. When Lunadorn was destroyed and the Darkmoon Passage was formed almost all of their work was lost. Some small works survived and were traded and sold among the wealthy over the millennia the Lunar Compass' are fanatically protected by the Lunadorn. The Oral Traditions of the Lunadorn say the Lunar Compass' were one of the first near magical creation of the Lunadorn Artificers. As time passed so did the capabilities of the Lunar Compasses. When the Lunadorn began their nomadic wonderings the Lunar Compasses were charished items. For thousands of years they were passed down from parent to child. All efforts to secure one by non Lunadorn have always failed. After several millennia it became almost known fact that none but a Lunadorn could ever hold one without some evil to befall them
