SS_Asra

AI Operated Underwater Vehicle

SS_Asra, the SS standing for "Sea Searcher," was a seacraft operated by a highly intelligent AI, developed by Sobek Inc. The vehicle, along with the AI, was designed to able to operate like a human mind, prepared to explore the more dangerous parts of the ocean without risking human lives. Sobek expected the vehicle to grow in popularity, inspiring similar machines to be made at other ocean exploration companies, though that hope was shattered after Asra's disappearance.

Power Generation

Like with other seacraft developed by Sobek, Asra gained energy through solar panels on her backside, which she could reveal to the sun at will. When underwater, the solar panels would automatically be covered by a thick metal plate, which could not open even if Asra wanted it to. If Asra was suddenly low on power without her realizing, a survival system would override her orders and return her to the surface as fast as possible.

Propulsion

Asra had two propellors on her backside which were mainly used for propulsion, with semi-large wings on her sides made to mimic the pectoral fins of fish, aiding in propulsion. Her main body is also streamlined, as to be expected with any swimming animal.

Armor and defense

Like with the Sobek Explorer Submarine, Asra was nearly indestructible, made out of an extremely strong hull. The most sensitive areas on Asra were her cameras and microphones.

Communication Tools & Systems

Although unable to produce sounds or communicate verbally herself, Asra could receive digital information from her manufacturers on what to do. She could understand language in the same way virtual assistants can, and follow orders without question. In return, Asra could also send virtual distress signals to Sobek should something have happened to her while exploring.

Sensors

Asra had four cameras on her front end, functioning similar to eyes, as well as two microphones on each side of her, made to both hear and localize sounds in the water. On top of this, Asra could see in the ultraviolet and infrared spectrums, giving her the ability to sense the world in virtually every possible way.

Additional & auxiliary systems

Inside of her main body, Asra contained a small robot with a body similar to a crab, which had its own cameras and microphones. It was intended to explore areas that were too cramped or dangerous for Asra, and did not think for itself, only acting from Asra's commands. The drone had four stubby legs which could cling to almost any surface, as well as cameras built on stalks in order to see in all directions.

Life at Home

Because Asra was sentient, Sobek planned to treat her as such, and developed an enormous tank that functioned as her living quarters. It was built with variety in terrain, containing secret passages full of water for her to explore over and over again, as well as certain sea animals that would pass through from the ocean outside. Workers would be able to visit her and provide her with simple games akin to toys made for human toddlers. Some employees would also celebrate her "birthday," only hosting a brief celebration near her tank. However, these were only scant occurrences, and Asra spent most of her time without physical human contact.

After Asra's presumed death, the entire room was drained of its water, and now serves as a storage room. An obituary was hung on the wall of the room's entry hallway, acting as a memorial to the SS_Asra. However, some employees have criticized the use of her room for storage after the dedication of this memorial, claiming it was disrespectful if they meant for the room to honor her legacy.
