the High Tower

The high tower was once an ancient and powerfull building on the southern slopes of the grey mountains. It was a watchpost that looked far and wide over the lands of the great Desert. Here sat the council of the high tower and kept watch and held council over what they saw. From top of that tower they could see further than any other mortal from the highest mountain. They warned others ybout attacks of the demons and by this avoided many a bloodbath.
It is said to have been built by the high spirits, ancient and immortal beings that were sent by the gods to guide the mortal races in the first days of their creation. 
During the years of the Long Peace a great city rose at its feet and them men and dwarves that lived there became a proud an wealthy people.

During the first years of the great demonwar however the city was besieged and lost soon after for the hords of demons were unstoppable. The tower itself stood strong for a few years but in the end it fell as well and many good men were lost. 
Since that day this tower stands in ruin as a reminder of the strengh of the demons and the price all mortal races had to pay for feeling too save and letting their vigilance fade.
