dwarves

The stories of dwarves often deal with immeasurable wealth of gold and gems and the forging of indestructible weapons. They are told by those that have little with no less fire than it is told by those that already have much.

Those that have little talk about those stories as to not to loose hope. They tell stories of poor, lonely travellers that stumble by accident over an ancient and abandoned city of dwarves and become rich. The heroes buy themselves a house and have gardeners and servants that bring them food and wine. Of course the heroes remember their poor days and donate a lot of their money to the poor and that way everyone gets something. Or they tell stories of young orphan boys that help out a dwarf in need. they then are repaid double and get a marvellous weapon with wich they slay monsters and win the favour of kings and the hands of princesses. Again they remember their humble origins and freely give the money of the king to the poor.

Those that have much already look with greed on the tales of this wealth. So they tell their own stories of how they get their hands on a dwarven hoard of gold. These are the stories where the prince goes out into the world to prove his worth. He slays a dragon , rescues the princes and returns with glory and a beautiful bride to the court of his father.
You surely have heard that kind of stories so i do no need to tell you any more of those.

For some reason dwarves and dragons and princesses seem to to go together very well in stories. The true reason for this has long been lost to time. In these days it has probably just become habit.
